  1. My 2.5 seems to have trouble idling. It will idle at what seems like a normal RPM (no tach) for a while, then the RPMs drop and it sounds like it’s struggling to run. Then, after a little bit, the RPMs rise back to normal. Also smells like it’s running rich. I can see the idle stop moving as the RPMs cycle from high to low. I let it run for a bit with the TPS unplugged, and it behaved exactly the same. I tightened all of the manifold fasteners and there was also no change. The rhythm from high to low RPM seems fairly consistent. What are some things I can check to troubleshoot? I have a video, but it’s too large. What’s the easiest way to share it?

    Neat Keychain

When I bought my Comanche, the keys came on this neat keychain. I’m wondering if anyone else has seen one of these or knows who made/makes them?
  3. My left window has been significantly harder to open and close than the right window. I took the door card off and tried lubricating the regulator. That didn’t seem to help, so I looked deeper. I found that the slide tube was damaged. With little pry bar action, the window moves more easily. Still a little stiff, but definitely a step in the right direction. I was hoping to find a build sheet in there, but I didn’t. I guess I’m not surprised. It has been reupholstered recently by the PO
  4. Thanks. I’d love to see any pics you can give me of vacuum line routing. I don’t know what’s normal, but it all seems like a mess in there. This thing runs okay, but not as well as I think it should.
  5. I was poking around my engine (‘87 2.5) today and found this connector hanging loose on top of the intake manifold. What is it and where does it need to go? I also noticed that it looks like a couple of vacuum lines are missing from my throttle body. Are there normally four lines that connect to the throttle body? I have two lines and two empty holes. It also looks like a couple of lines have been broken off of this cluster (not sure what else to call it) near the throttle body.
  6. Could you have damaged your booster diaphragm when you slowed down? I’m not very familiar with vac boost, but it seems like that could cause a vac leak that could cause weak brakes and poor running.
  7. Stock should be adequate. I'm on 30s and drive it on the street 90% of the time.
  8. I have an ‘87 Sportruck that came from the factory without power steering. I’d like to add power steering, and I’m wondering what steering gears from which vehicles will be compatible? TIA
  9. Here is a current picture. I’m working through some needed maintenance. I’m keeping it off salty roads and parking it in a hangar on rainy days. The previous owner did a lot of nice work, including new paint and decals.
  10. Clearing trees after a crazy Ohio wind storm yesterday
  11. Well, I doubled my 2.5’s horsepower for $1.20. After my first few drives, I was really underwhelmed with this engine’s power. I’ve never owned a 2.5 before this one, but it struggled going up small hills. After a little digging, I found that my gas pedal was hitting the poor-fitting vinyl floor at about half throttle! I picked up this little cable clamp from Aircraft Spruce, and adjusted the position of the pedal on the cable. Now I can drive the speed limit!
  12. Here’s a few. The PO did a lot of work inside. Most things are in good shape. Some panels are loose and need to be secured.
  13. My first MJ just arrived! I found it on marketplace in Washington, purchased it, and had it trucked home to Ohio. It’s an ‘87 Sportruck, 2.5, AX4, 2WD. 231,000 miles on the clock. The plan right now is to use it as a summer DD. I want to keep it out of the salt as much as possible. There are plenty of things that I’d like to do, but I don’t have time or space for a major car project. Glad to be here!
  14. Hello all, I just purchased my first Comanche! It’s an ‘87 short bed Sportruck. I’ll be storing it outside during the winter, and I’m looking for recommendations for a car cover. What are y’all using?

  16. Just purchased this one today. It’s my first Comanche ever. I’ll be moving it from Washington to Ohio later this year.
