Hey everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on and it’s been even longer since I took my Comanche down to bare bones to restore it.

I am finally in the process of reassembly and I can’t remember or find the piece that went to the right of the steering column and left of the cigarette lighter. I’m pretty sure it was a blank bezel.

The XJ would have the rear windshield wiper button there.

Thanks!

If It's the blank, those were normally just a thin plastic bezel that was attached to the larger gauge cluster bezel. You can also get 3d printed aftermarket ones that will just have a couple of carling style rocker switch holes. Or you can grab the switch holder from any 96- XJ or MJ that had the actual switch holder there. Somewhere, I have buckets of them lol.

Jeep did it a couple different ways over the years. As mentioned, a blank cover attached to the dashboard overlay and also, but less common a full pod that was screwed in (similar to the at left fog/ cargo light pod) but with an adhesive blank cover (this was more commonly found on Renix era plain Jane XJs).

These are what you are looking for. One bolts to the dash which houses the switches if so equiped. The other is fused the the cluster trim bezel and is a block off plate. IMG_20260612_1850310442.jpg.918ea87fe21b215e875a2f28e5602817.jpgIMG_20260612_1851214542.jpg.7c5a6c223f16a6a4fd5b2a7f3e809b95.jpg

Is there a technical document relating to the measurements of the plate that someone has done? I need to make a custom plate and it would save time, otherwise I’ll measure the plate I have.
