90BlackMJ Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Hey everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on and it’s been even longer since I took my Comanche down to bare bones to restore it. I am finally in the process of reassembly and I can’t remember or find the piece that went to the right of the steering column and left of the cigarette lighter. I’m pretty sure it was a blank bezel. The XJ would have the rear windshield wiper button there. Thanks!
89 MJ Posted June 12 Posted June 12 On my truck, it was a part of the dash bezel if it’s the piece I think it is.
The86manche Posted June 12 Posted June 12 It would either be a switch plate for fog lights/transmission switch(if auto) or a blank plate.
ghetdjc320 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 If It's the blank, those were normally just a thin plastic bezel that was attached to the larger gauge cluster bezel. You can also get 3d printed aftermarket ones that will just have a couple of carling style rocker switch holes. Or you can grab the switch holder from any 96- XJ or MJ that had the actual switch holder there. Somewhere, I have buckets of them lol.
Gjeep Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Jeep did it a couple different ways over the years. As mentioned, a blank cover attached to the dashboard overlay and also, but less common a full pod that was screwed in (similar to the at left fog/ cargo light pod) but with an adhesive blank cover (this was more commonly found on Renix era plain Jane XJs).
Eagle_SX4 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 These are what you are looking for. One bolts to the dash which houses the switches if so equiped. The other is fused the the cluster trim bezel and is a block off plate.
90BlackMJ Posted Saturday at 04:55 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:55 PM Yep it was that thin plastic plate, I found it. Thanks guys!
TheNerfsmith Posted Saturday at 10:56 PM Posted Saturday at 10:56 PM Is there a technical document relating to the measurements of the plate that someone has done? I need to make a custom plate and it would save time, otherwise I’ll measure the plate I have.
