looking for anyone that's web/code-savvy to help get the ComancheClub fixed

either yourself or if you have someone you know/trust that's got skills.  the script that is supposed to auto-shrinking the images isn't doing its job and we need someone to look into it.  the fullsize images are eating up more and more space that is upping our monthly bill.  there are some other things that need to be addressed, but this is the most pressing.  @Big_Mark  is on point for this since he knows way more than I about the coding aspect.

it's not so much a coding thing, it's the actual website application update issue. To get the update "we" need to subscribe to the, presumably free, "Invision Community" edition of the website software.
I think if the site was updated, we could get the image resizer working since it looks like it's a built-in feature.
The caveat here is, if we update the site software and something breaks without support were back to square one, or worse.

So, we need someone familiar with the Invision Forum web applications Sign up for Invision Community - Invision Community or "we" the userbase needs to pony up some $$ to get the site updated and hopefully the image resizing will work again.

How much are we looking price-wise to update? I’m sure a handful of members chipping in would make it not too bad. I’d certainly help.

I'll ask the sales people at Invision for guidance and will get a solid price then will post up here.

I really hope we can pull together to get this handled, this site is a great resource, and community, especially for us "non social media" types, WEB FORUMS FOR THE WIN!!!!

Negative, less than nothing from them. It appears most of these forums are mostly self-managed, meaning the site owners keep them up to date, customize them etc. I've started looking into other platforms to see if there is somewhere we can bounce to.

Sorry gang I wish I had better news here.

Just venting an aggravation here, but what’s bugs me is the one who did all the stuff for us and keeping us up to date didn’t exactly pass the torch for us to stay going. I mean yeah we’re doing good, we can be out of date and still have the webpage running but it’s just something that bugs me.

Agreed, not sure who that was or why they stopped but it puts the rest of us in a bind.

I wish I have time to learn all this stuff but my job uses up my "tech Brains" by the time I'm off I just want to go out and mow my yard, pull weeds, anything but sit at a computer and do computer stuff.

With that said I will keep looking for a solution, there has to be a non Facebook way to continue at a reasonable price.

Curious, the old script that handled the resizing, how was it implemented? Where was it hosted? Was it something like a python script that ran when a new image entered a queue to be hosted on the server?
If it's possible to look at the current implementation and just modify it / fix it that would be the best option.

Are there any forum backups to compare potential backend changes?

@kook911 is right on the money. Claude, copilot and perplexity are incredibly competent at basic programming at this point in time, march 2026.

I'd love to give a hand, maybe in a week or so when work calms down a bit.

I hate the forced update methodology of forum software where you end up just shoveling money into a platform that never gets updated (cough, cough, vBulletin)
I remember notebookreview and hardforum having tremendous amounts of trouble with vBulletin. interface never changed. no security updates ever. massive hack. Hardforum moved to XenForo and has had great success with it. I have no idea how expensive it is. I mainly have experience hosting personal websites on apache / ubuntu instances. I have not dealt with forum software yet.
let me know how it goes.

The old script from what I can tell is baked into the site service/runs on the host virtual machine (Ubuntu ultimately).

I saw it (can't remember the name of the resizing service) as an option to enable in the site management settings once but am not able to find the "toggle" again.

The "whoever" was working on the site updates in the past sent an email to Pete talking about the underlying database engine having issues post upgrade which somehow degraded the image resizing software etc. but as I am not a database guru I don't know what it meant.

Stack that on top of the site is behind a few versions, to get access to the new versions it requires a $ubscription.

Once the site is updated, things may or may not work which is a major concern.

There doesn't seem to be any level of support beyond another forum for this site service.

As for Claude and "Chad GPT" unless you are somewhat knowledgeable of the thing you are trying to fix, I would steer clear of those options. I use Chad daily for my job and honestly, it's a great way to waste time %80 of the time, however there is that %20 of insight that often get me to my solution, but GAWDAMMMMM is it hard to get there.

Anyways let m know if you have any other ideas or questions. Ideally if the "whoever" could come back and UN***k this i'd by them some beer
