Needing new Fuel Sending Unit and Pump

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I'm in need of a new fuel pump and assembly for my 1992 Jeep Comanche. If anyone has any recommendations for reliable brands or places to buy from, I’d really appreciate it.

I found one on RockAuto for $90 but after reading through some post here, I don't know if that's the one I should get.

Any advice or experiences would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys, I'll be placing an order tomorrow.

Do y'all know about how much the unit was?

Also, should I go with the fuel pump they sell or a Bosch?

I've seen the Bosch mentioned a few times when it comes to fuel pumps.

The Bosch unit is a great choice but as far as I know the 69302 has been discontinued. You might get lucky and find one on eBay.

I've got the fuel pump they sell and it is working well. I have been running it for about 3.5 years.

Not sure on yours but the one I ordered for the 4.0 in my '89 was $171.

I don't remember, exactly but it was a great price considering they are the only one making these!

For simplicity I would order the sending unit and pump from them. ( They also sell on eBay) I already had a bosch pump before I knew I also needed a sending unit. I had to adapt the pump to fit.

The only company that makes a new one is MTS.

https://www.mtscompany.com/sendingunits.htm

The one you want is a JPSU-7. They don't take online orders so you will need to call them.

that's not true anymore.  there are others available too.  it's a bit freaky to have choice when it comes to something that literally didn't exist just a couple years ago.

the first one I went with ended up falling apart because it relied on a plastic bit shoved onto another plastic bit to hold it all together.  the second one was one of the cheaper versions and it has a positive clamp on the top and bottom of the pump.  it has a cheaper pump in it, so I'm not 100% certain it's the best choice overall, but it can't fall apart. :D

Thanks for the replies guys.

So the fuel sending unit (TYC 150296A) listed on RockAuto for the 92 MJ is for a Cherokee.

Just got off the phone with MTS and they are out of stock of JPSU-7P.

There's a 3 month lead time on them so I'll be waiting to hear back about that.
