  1. Just got done re-checking temps. Laser temp gun showed the upper rad hose pressurizing and getting hot at 205-208 degrees at the thermostat housing. Temps cooled to about 196 as the thermostat opened but then climbed to 228. I pulled the temp sensor plug which allowed the auxillary fan to kick on. Letting that run gets the temp down to about 203 at the housing. Sensor at rear of head reads about same as well but gauge reads 220-225 so the gauge appears off. However, if the aux fan isn't running, it shoots back up to close to 230 or so. This is all at idle in the garage. I'm going to replace both temp sensors but I still think its going to run hot and require the aux fan to be on a lot. Any thoughts based on this new info? It's a newer radiator, clean with no blockages in the fins. Temp difference between upper rad hose and lower is about 35-40 degrees so cooling. To answer a previous question, no A/C at this time.
  2. Thanks all for the replies. The truck is an 89 that has a 96 Cherokee 4.0 HO engine swap. I replaced the fan clutch and it seems to function properly now but weirdly, no change in temperature. I suspected the gauge may be reading wrong but verified its really close with a laser temp gun prior to changing clutch. Put 12v to the auxiliary fan and it came on so replaced the relay and it still does not kick on at 220, which is about the hottest the truck runs. Pulled the electrical plug from the thermostat housing temp sensor and fan comes on immediately so I guess the temp sensor is bad. Radiator appears to be newer and no issues. Haven't verified temp but upper hose is way hotter than lower hose so it appears to be cooling. I plan to re-verify temps once I have aux fan working properly and see if gauge is still reflecting engine temps. Also going to verify that the new thermostat is actually working at the 195 degree temp or is I have a bad one. Appreciate the advice. Not sure what to do next. It stays pretty much at 220ish at idle and driving.
  3. My wife's Comanche is running hot, about 220. The fan needs a new clutch I discovered but the electric fan is not coming on at all. At what temp is it suppose to kick in? I'll be trying to diagnose it shortly. I changed the thermostat and radiator cap already and that did not resolve the issue. Fan clutch is next.
  4. I purchased the same bracket.
  5. Thank you both as that is very helpful. My friend gave me some for a newer Cherokee which did not work.
  6. Well, we will see what my wife says as it is her rig. LOL
  7. I'm looking for a pair of gray female seatbelts, the ones that can mount to the transmission tunnel. Looking for a pair in nice condition.
  8. I appreciate the info. Maybe I will try to source a 96 console then. Or use this one until I do locate a nice one. Thanks!
  9. Congrats! Fun and good looking rigs.
  10. I was thinking that I could trim it and not have a gap. I was also looking at it thinking it needs to move forward some for the shifter bezels to be in the right spot as well.
  11. Looking to install a '97 Cherokee console in my wife's '89 MJ. I bought the mounting bracket for the rear of the console. Anything else I need? Also, I'd really like to see some photos of the trimming done to the front of the console to fit it. Looks like I have some blower ducts to deal with. Any and all advice/help appreciated.
  12. Not sure on yours but the one I ordered for the 4.0 in my '89 was $171.
  13. Searching for the floor pan plugs (all) for the MJ. Does anyone sell a a full kit? I think I found the larger plugs but any help would be appreciated.
  14. I wound up ordering Corbeau seats for my wife's Comanche. They even offer seat brackets that are specific to the Comanche to make things a lot simpler to install. .
  15. I went the Raptor Liner route on my JKU. I did a nice fine texture that had a matte look to it. I found it easy to fix small dents and such. Always got compliments on how nice it looked.
  16. Thank you all for sharing. I really like the Trail Cats BUT it is my wife's vehicle and I only get to do the work on it!
  17. I recently picked up an 89 Comanche for my wife and she doesn't care for the bench seat. I pointed her to some Corbeau Trail Cats and Baja's and she does not care for the race seat look with the harness hole and such. I saw one of the MJOTM rigs using seats from a 2014 Cherokee KL. Besides OEM buckets, what other buckets have others used that work fine in a Comanche?
