jpnjake
Hey guys, a couple weeks ago I was replacing my rear brake line and found my 02 sensor wires just dangling, turns out at some point the wiring on the sensor broke off of the sensor (explaining my sudden drop in fuel mileage and lack of power lately). Then I found all the conflicting information about the 02 sensors themselves, some say none available work(find JY one), some say they swear by the Bosch, and others say the Bosch don’t work at all and to go with the NTK, so just curious if any one else has ran into this problem and what your experiences and solutions have been TYIA Pic for attention
89 MJ
That Cub Cadet looks like a blast. It seems like a crapshoot, but maybe Bosch is the way to go based on this thread: You can also use a wideband and a REM to get it in closed loop. Salvagedcircuit
At this time, the only thing I can suggest is whatever O2 sensor you purchase, test it before you install it. The bosch 12009 re-labels I received from that random seller on amazon were not correct. They were wired incorrectly, the wrong resistance, and did not respond correctly with heat. I have been scooping up new old stock o2 sensors when I find them on ebay but I have not seen one since september. I gave my last one to my brother for his XJ. You may have an easier time in a junk yard. It's sad.
llhat
was there not a thread about the 'correct' and 'best' O2 sensors available 'now'?
TurboedMJ
Switching to REM + wideband would probably be the most reliable/accurate, but you will have to drop a little more coin
pizzaman09
I tried a Bosch when I first purchased my truck 3 years ago based on my success with Bosch for other vehicles O2 sensors. It was a mistake, the sensor was super slow to respond and would slowly wave back and forth from rich to lean over and over again. I purchased the recommended NTK sensor and it fixed everything. I had a smooth idle and more power just about everywhere.

Did nick do one? I'm tempted. I already have the REM. might make sense at this point.

The Bosch one was very slow, like 30 seconds to toggle back and forth based on what my REM was showing. The NTK is super quick. The NTK fixed my lean rough idle. I was waiting for someone to report good news of this part as the Bosch one seems like hot garbage On 12/7/2024 at 3:29 PM, 89 MJ said: That Cub Cadet looks like a blast. Thank you Carter, it is a lot of fun, probably the most fun purchase of the year right behind the trailer! looks like as of rn nick isn’t producing rem units due to a supply chain issue, i definitely want to pursue that option tho On 12/7/2024 at 7:27 PM, Salvagedcircuit said: At this time, the only thing I can suggest is whatever O2 sensor you purchase, test it before you install it. Just like how when you buy a new part you have to question if it was better than the one you just replaced (It never is)

That's a shame that they aren't in production right now. Hopefully that gets resolved quickly, I saw he posted about a new 3D printer on FB not too long ago. fiatslug87
Please report back how it’s working and whether it’s three or four wires coming out of the body into the three pin connector.
Htchevyii
I'm using the 4 wire Bosch in both of mine. As far as I can tell, they have been working fine. Both go into closed loop pretty quickly. The one in the MJ probably has 20k on it. I thought that I had a problem with the sensor on the XJ, but it ended up just being the relay. I still have the used OEM one that I bought when I worked at the Dodge dealer years ago. I had no idea that I would still own the MJ. I should have bought so many more parts! At least I replaced both manual window regulators when I worked there!
jpnjake
Finally received mine today, I ended up ordering the ntk on amazon, not off their website since it would come sooner. It ended up being a 4 wire unit. ohm reading cold was right at 5 ohms so that’s good news at least. Going to install then update again on whether or not it works. In the case that it doesn’t, currently planning on returning this one and buying one off their website and just waiting. My hope is the company will have all the new 3 wires and that the amazon seller just had a bunch of 4 wires from the last batch
