that one mounts on the A-pillar, correct? If so, there's a trick to cut down on drafts and wind noise.

Get those pieces from a later model XJ. They're way more rigid and don't pucker along their length.

There was an aftermarket version of these available until maybe a couple of years ago. It was just some stock rubber material with that bend and some double sided adhesive tape. Worked well enough. Surely someone can find a similar piece of rubber stock

I removed the driver one on my 89 and now I have a lot more wind noise. My door shuts badly so I took it off to see if it was causing the door closing issue, it was not. If I was you I'd grab one from the junkyard because it will be very cheap and if it's in good shape it's reusable. You could put some 2-sided tape on the back and use plastic rivets in the holes to put it back on if you want to be like the factory. Well that's how it was attached on mine.

That's the response I get constantly, and I understand that I am in a rare situation but, I live 3 hours and 10 minutes drive (155 miles) from an auto wreckers. That's 6 hours 20 minutes rounds trip.

Can you order the late model ones anywhere?

Not the latest versions, they are out of stock. Good info here on some options though:

On my 87 when I got it, the PO had sealed those wonky early style strips to the A pillar. There was way less noise than my 90 had.

So, I added some trim screws to the warpy parts of the 90's weatherstrip flattening it out and it became much quieter.

Looks like I'm going to have to rivet some small aluminum angle to the spot and install a piece of door seal on it. Or find some other weather strip with adhesive back that will do the job. I didn't see this one coming.

Its a bit stiff but I have it in the sun right now. Trying to get it flattened out. I'm not finding the other one though.
