frankspeed420 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 I need a heater blower resistor for an 86 with air conditioning. Please don't show me the ones on rockauto, they are all for non ac trucks.
TheDude Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 The blower motor resistors are are all the same with or without AC.

Actuallyyyyyy they aren’t. 84-86 only the AC equipped from the factory Jeeps have a unique to them resistor that has 5 prongs instead of the 4 for all the others.
TheDude Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Ohhh, that's good to know since I have an 86'. Guess I've never had to replace on one of those years yet.

eaglescout526 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 There shows to be 1 actually floating out there. Not sure in your location in the country but I see it’s at a dealer in TN

Pete M Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 sigh... yet another thing I should have been scavenging over the years. I wonder how many I overlooked.

If it has air conditioning its likely. Its got an extra white wire going to it along with the normal 4 prong plug
frankspeed420 Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 Cool. If any are 2.5L (doubtful) I'm also looking for some ac hoses. Maybe a compressor
frankspeed420 Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 It looks like the 2.5 air conditioning hoses are tough too. I have to search here more but if anyone has them too

I'd probably struggle to identify what's what. Pics of what to dig up would help. Again not sure how much or what is exactly left. The heater box right there in front may have the blower resistor in it. Ill grab a pic in a few
Pete M Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 hoses should be able to be custom made by a shop.

I've been struggling with the blower in my 86 for a while now and this thread made me realize I'm not the only one struggling trying to find these parts.

It will take me some time but I’ll definitely make a list of 84-86 specifics. I’ll even include the XJ.

It’s not. Just 84-86. the catalog lists it as with vehicles with factory air. My 79 firebird has the same resistor to our Jeeps funny enough but i don't think it’s a 5 prong resistor.
frankspeed420 Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 Decent news to report. I cleaned the original. Got it working, but still interested in a less rusty replacement
