colthrax Posted March 9, 2025 Author Posted March 9, 2025 Rear axle arrived, been lazy and have not gotten much done.
colthrax Posted May 12, 2025 Author Posted May 12, 2025 Started putting the front axle on the car, today I tried to mount the tie rod thing, it hits the control arms with patrols dumb location of it Need to make some kind of high steer, 3d printing it before cutting this time.
colthrax Posted May 22, 2025 Author Posted May 22, 2025 Finally the axles are on the car, I hope I will have it running this saturday
colthrax Posted June 18, 2025 Author Posted June 18, 2025 Axles are mounted, airlocker is installed in the front axle and rear one is converted to air. Just got to make some protection for the rear one
colthrax Posted July 11, 2025 Author Posted July 11, 2025 I had welded my old rims to fit the new bolt pattern, but at around 110–120 km/h, the car started to wobble a bit. Today, I went to check out some new rims and a set of 38.5" Super Swampers. When I got there, the guy had a set of 40" Cooper tires already mounted on the rims. He wasn’t planning to sell them—but I managed to convince him. So now I'm rolling on 40s! 😄 My old rims and new ones, got to weld beadlocks on them but as sweden offroad tour is starting tomorrow I do not have time.
colthrax Posted July 12, 2025 Author Posted July 12, 2025 Had to extend my front fenders, but still got alot of trimming left to do. Will join in on sweden offroad tour 3 days late
colthrax Posted August 9, 2025 Author Posted August 9, 2025 After sweden offroad tour, my dad with his 35's did not like driving with me He has started to prototype dana30 bolt on portals because of it now

colthrax Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 This weekend my project on moving the rear axle forwards abit so I get the same wheelbase as a shortbed will start. also bought a new steering hydro assist thing, found the part from a tractor.

I hope it won't be any problem But it's a slow side project, just decided on gears instead of chain in them so it has to be redone. Printed a working model in 1:1 size with a chain and that worked. But finding a chain was hard...
colthrax Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 And here we go… I should have done this from the start instead of just cutting the rear of the bed. I’m moving the rear axle forward by 17.5 cm to match a shortbed wheelbase. When I cut the bed, it ended up with shortbed dimensions, so now I also need to move the wheel opening forward and fill in the section behind it.
colthrax Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 The axle is now correctly positioned. The remaining work is to cut and relocate the wheel arch and fill in the area behind it.
colthrax Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 I think the proportions looks better like this, before it looked stretched. Steering seems to work alright, abit scary on the road. Maybe too much angle on the joints? I also need to repaint the car because of all the dents and crap. Not sure I want it orange anymore. I have alot of TGB11/13 paint but don't know what I think about it AI image:
neohic Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Truck looks great! I kinda like the orange though. Maybe try another bright color before drag green?

colthrax Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 So I finally went ahead and mounted the radiator in the rear instead. Looks like the cage actually helps channel the air downwards, which is a nice bonus I also cycled the suspension to make sure nothing rubs in the rear after moving the axle forward. Next step is figuring out some kind of bed cover. I’m currently leaning towards diamond plate aluminum. Also this is before and after moving the axle, the wheel wells are bigger now to make room for the 40's and the 42's I will switch to later.
colthrax Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Finally got to test the car with the changes, it's horrible to drive on the round at 60mph ish. Need to adjust the flow to the steering assist thing
