Anyone have any pics of their bed chopped? I want to take 8-12 out of the rear and then weld the lights and such back but wanted to see what it would look like, and i have a short bed

The rear leaf mounts are not to far from the rear in the SWB. Taking 12" out of it will most likely put you in front of the leaf mounts.

yea thats why i said 8-12, haven't really looked into it a lot, i plan on ending the bed just after the shackle mount, also ii may 4 link it. not sure just yet cause its still my DD for now

Not sure where I found these, but I think it said he took 16" out of a long bed. You can see ho wmuch of the frame he had to chop.

 

I'll be doing the same thing with mine in a couple weeks. But I'm cutting off the rear leaf mount too, gonna build a rear crossmember that serves as a bumper and has the leaf spring hangers in it as well.

That's my MJ. I only took 8" out of the box and it is a SWB. That's about the most you can take out if you keep the stock shackle location. Just had to trip the rear section of the frame to get the tail gate to open all the way

Here is a Pic of Rob's old MJ. He basically cut it a few inches back of the lights, and just behind the shackle mount on the frame.

That very close to what my MJ will look like with the cab extended for 2dr XJ doors. Mine will have a slightly longer cab since I'm keeping the back of the MJ cab and just making the door openings 9" longer. It will have a custom bobbed and dovetailed bed thou. :brows:

Dayem, that's beautiful, proportions look much better. A bit like the old CJ-8 Scramblers w/o the giraffe hauling high cab roof line.
