We are planning a trip to River Rock on the weekend of the 4th. It is in Milledgeville, GA. This will be an exclusive ride, you have to tell me if you want in... you cannot just show up. July 4-6 It will mostly be 33-37" tire stock-ish rigs but bring whatever you want. Stock vehicles and first timers are encouraged to join us. There will be free camp sites available with a bathhouse It will cost $50 for the weekend for each rig and driver and $10 for each passenger

KOH is the first race of its kind. The event will take place on February 22, 2008, and is a non-spectator event. The event will part rock race, and part desert race. Race teams will start at 30 second intervals from Means Dry Lake bed, and will navigate through the desert on a set race course to their first rock course. As of today, the official course has not been released, and is not going to be released until race week. What we do know is there will be approximatley 50-60 miles of desert racing, and approximately 7 Johnson Valley trails (aka: Hammer Trails - Sledgehammer, Jackhammer, Wrecking Ball, etc) to make up the course. http://www.pirate4x4.com/koh/ Keep checking on it, the race footage is going to be insane. Imagine the adrenaline rush running 80mph and you get to a rock section that you should slow down on but don't want to. Expect plenty of carnage!!!

400sbc in the jeep
StevenH replied to billybob_jeep's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
If you weld the ring and grind it back down flat it will turn out to be fairly balanced. That is the first time I have seen a ring welded to a stock rim though. The 400 looks good man -
Small block with stock drivetrain?
StevenH replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How can a stroked 4.0 be any easier on the ax15 than a 350? Think about that just a little bit more... a stock V8 doesn't make a lot more peak horsepower than that. But a chevy engine would still be better :D Which AA book do you have? I have the Jeep engine and conversion manual and it says "This transmission seems to be one of the better transmissions Jeep used and is very capable of handling the horsepower and torque of a V8 engine" and also "The AX15 is a good and reliable transmission. It has an excellent gear ratio and it ideal for V6 & V8 conversions. This transmission is one of the only newer Jeep manual transmissions capable of handling the engine torque of a V8." Get a price from AA and then call Scott at Rock Buggy Supply. I bet he will save you a good bit on whatever you want from Advance Adapters. -
Oil pumps do have a bypass valve but the oil that get's bypassed goes right back out into the pan and doesn't circulate through the engine.

How much does a 4.0 weigh?
StevenH replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Advance Adapters says it is 540lbs but doesn't specify if that is everything bolted to it or not. I would assume that it is. -
Tellico April 1st- opening day ride
StevenH replied to StevenH's topic in Adventure Planning / Regional Groups
No Comanches want to support our public lands to prevent more closures? If you are going at least chime in and let us know. -
I got the engine and transmission in. I should be able to get a lot done to it next weekend...

few things ive heard.. overheating
StevenH replied to 88swampedmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Most serpentine belts run on the water pump on the opposite side of the belt and the water pump does turn backwards, they are reverse rotation pumps. -
Tellico April 1st- opening day ride
StevenH replied to StevenH's topic in Adventure Planning / Regional Groups
Actually, the Rescue Tellico ride will be on April 5th. There will be a meeting in town and a parade out to Tellico. Check the Tellico forum at www.pirate4x4.com for more information. -

I read about that in last month's 4WOR. I found this but it's based on a JK chassis.. maybe it's old http://www.off-roadweb.com/features/070 ... /index.htm edit: that is old, I remember that one now

Tellico is opening back up on April 1 from the winter closure and the SFWDA wants a major turnout. The will be a (unofficial) parade of 4wd's in the town of Murphy, NC that will head to Upper Tellico OHV and Helen at Tellico Cabins said there will be a potluck dinner served at the end of the day. I am planning on being there with the MJ and riding some of the milder trails if anybody wants to meet up there... post up! There is a group of us going already with vehicles of all types... there will be somebody to ride with of all difficulty levels. BE THERE!!!

They are 2 totally different taillights. Not even close to looking alike or fitting.
-
If it will work, use it. The only difference as far as fitment could be the taper/size of the hole in the knuckle, right? If you tie rods will physically bolt onto your knuckles they should work...

Ok, the holidays are past and it's time for me to get busy. The 9" is in, the engine and transmission will be going in next weekend. Next on the list will be swapping the front axle (I have to get one first) if anybody has any ideas on a d44 front axle let me hear them, wheel bolt pattern doesn't matter as long as it is around 61-63" wide passenger side drop. It seems like I am a long way off but when I get everything bolted in where it's going hooking it up and getting it running right shouldn't be that bad. I decided to go carb to start with and come back later and do TBI as a side project. It will be a work in progress anyways, I will run it as soon as I can and do the body mods.. etc. as time goes. I just want to wheel!!! :D The frontend is picked up a little with an engine hoist, it sits level w/soa rear and 6.5 in the front. None of the running gear is in yet though. Those 33's are just rollers, it will have 35's on it but our MJ's have a mile of ground clearance to start with.. if the axle center wasn't so close to the ground I would run 33's on it.

Merry Christmas!!!

That makes my stomach hurt.

4 pages of discussions, 1 case of inspiration and now you have decided not to do this? My motor mounts came in from AA, the only thing I need now is a tailshaft housing and I will have the bulk of my parts for my 4.3 swap
