  1. The Upper Tellico OHV is located right up the road from Murphy and if you go to Blairsville, GA Beasley Knob OHV is right on the outskirts of town  you will be at the best rockcrawling in the Eastern US If you go to Tellico take trail 1 to trail 4 and take it around to trail 8 up trail 9 (trail 9 is where the obstacle named Slickrock, is located) take trail 9 up to trail 8 and back down to trail 4 and backtrack yourself out or take trail 5 back out to trail 1. Trail 1 is just a dirt road. That will take you most of the day to do on 31's, just take your time and work your way through. You won't even need a winch if you can drive :D here's a map for ya to print out http://www.tellico4x4.com/map1.htm
  2. I think they are JK's. You would have mismatched wheel patterns and need 2 spare tires when/if you wheel.
  3. Not to mention it will be a mall crawler at that point because of the COG. You won't be playing on the rocks with this will you?

  5. Measure your axle tube and the spring pack plus 4" for the spring lift. Probably around 7-8"
  6. I know a way to install the calipers upside down but it involves flipping the truck on it's roof :D
  7. It could be so many things... you said it was backfiring so check for vacuum leaks. Check the intake bolts and make sure they are tight. It could also be the ignition. Do you regularly maintain it? It may need a good tune-up. The distributor cap could cracked, the distributor itself could be loose. Check the whole thing over good...
  8. One reason not to buy from them is because they don't know what axle is under the front of an MJ ;)
  9. I agree on taking it easy with the d35 and you will be ok. On the show Trucks, when their d35 gave up on them the center section spun on the axle tubes. They were giving it hell on 37's to do this, climbimg some pretty big rocks.
  10. heh? :dunno: He is talking about the coils springs maybe? The accepted method was to chain the coil to the frame until all of the tension was released. If you are pulling the entire axle out you could leave the coil bolted to the spring pad and let them come out with the axle.
  11. I have never heard of one of these "inverted torque bit " it sounds like a 12 point also. I agree, leave the wheels on the axle.
  12. Yes, used 1997+ hoses and eliminated the water control valve. From this: Image Not Found To this: Image Not Found Got the new hoses at O'Reillys, p/nos 19038 (outlet) and 19039 (inlet). Man, you are a lifesaver  That was information I can definately use!
  13. Entertainment courtesy of Randy's R&P Their motto should be "We know our gears, we just don't know which way they rotate!" :D or something to that effect... lol Has anybody else went there and seen what I was talking about?
  14. Its HP. But please, no 'standard rotation' or 'reverse rotation' talk! It's just wrong! Reverse rotation axles actually drive the other direction, and there isn't many of them out there (think prior to 1950). Reverse cut, reverse crown, reverse spiral, high pinion, and HP are all commonly accepted terms and are at least reasonably correct. (sorry to rant, it just bugs me) Talk to Randy at Randys Ring and Pinion about that complaint :D
  15. I was browsing at Randy's R&P's website and they list my front axle as a standard rotation axle. It looks like a high pinion to me and everything else I have read says high pinion. I have an XJ and I compared the axles... they look the same to me. Which one came stock in an 89 MJ 4.0?
  16. Yeah the shift on the fly I was referring to for him was the question he asked about shifting into low range. On my dana 300's twinsticked I could float it into low range while I was driving, you have to shift to a higher gear first on a manual transmission then float it into low. You may even have to shoot it a little throttle to get in there smooth. Just don't try that with the 231 case :D this is the first 4wd auto I have had, shifting it is a little different than a manual... I was the same way as he is about it not shifting into low.
  17. Another thing that we forgot is don't shift from 2HI to 4HI while the rear wheels are "spinning out" (spinning faster that the front wheels) that will cause you to hear popping sounds that are not good. :D Same way shifting back into 2wd, don't do it while the wheels are spinning out. Say if you are stuck in some mud and spinning your wheels, you cannot shift into 4wd while the rear wheels are spinning.
  18. That is what could happen when the case cracks!! Most of the time it's just a small crack and the only way you know it's there is because it leaks fluid like a sifter. like this? :brows: you may have to be moving slowly to get into 4 hi, but will need to be stopped to get into 4 low.
  19. I found the solution, a fuel pump safety switch :D http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... 3_-1_10309
  20. I am off to a good start here I see
  21. And also, with the 231 transfer case the truck has to be sitting still. It doesnt have shift-on-the-fly capabilities and you can't force the shifter or it will crack the case.
  22. Possibly fuel delivery related... fuel filter clogged, sticking float. Good luck!
  23. don't flame me for showing a CJ here, but me and her have good memories together Tellico trail 8
  24. It's not nearly a DD, I was just tired of messing with it because I didnt buy it to mess with a fuel pump relay :D if anybody can think of any adverse effects of doing this let me know. Does the ECM supply a stable supply of current to the pump the whole time the engine is running? I think it does, if so wiring it to a switch can't hurt anything. If it has ASD or an inertia switch the Renix manual doesn't list them in the table of contents and it includes a component list of everything. I'll look around at Jegs and see what they have for auto shutdown of pumps on drag cars. A lot of stock cars run electric pumps also, maybe they use something to auto shutdown. I'm wiring my a/c compressor to a switch and using it for OBA, I guess I'm just weird and don't use stuff as it is designed :D
  25. Better catch your toolbox before it slides out :D thats how us rednecks change the oil in our Jeeps
