Cushdaddy
Got my first MJ. I've worked on a couple on the past, quite familiar with XJ's, but really wanted a truck, and didn't want to spend $40k on a Tacoma. I've done Cherokee floor boards, but I didn't buy anything fancy, just cut sheet, and formed and welded it in. Turned out great, but if I were to buy aftermarket "floorplans", is it worth it? Or do most of them suck and don't fit well?
Parei_doll_ia
I used Sherman and a BFH and they fit decently with some massaging. You're probably going to have to make a patch for the tunnel, I made a few small patches where the pans I got didn't go up high enough. It doesn't have to be pretty since it all gets covered. Key parts makes good stuff, I'm not sure if they have MJ pans, the XJ is slightly different.
87MJTIM
You need to check out the thread in the DIY section. SCJ Steve has a discussion on Key Parts floor pans. He also has a U-Tube channel where he is refurbishing his MJ.
Cushdaddy
Thanks, I'll check that out, I don't get on these boards too much, but I figured the MJ was just different enough that I should ask some questions.

ghetdjc320
X3 on the Key Parts. Spot weld cutter bits were also very handy
Cushdaddy
I watched that video, and I like cheap, and the cheap ones are a bit bigger. The black ones are good looking, and may fit a bit better, but 2x price... Will the seats from a 1998 and up 2 door Cherokee fit in the Comanche? Since my floor pans are shot, I can weld in Seat brackets mounting studs/reinforcement wherever I want.
Pete M
the 96+ seats have a completely different mounting system and will need some fab work, but they will absolutely fit.

Cushdaddy
Thanks for the input. Hopefully the seats will work out ok. I guess I have a bit of fabrication to do anyway, what's a bit more😁
ktmall07
I got the C2C pans, and they took quite a bit more than "massaging" to get to fit. The nice thing about them though was that they were so big, I cut off the excess and used it to patch other places that needed fixing. If I had to do it again, I'd get the Key Parts pans to save hours of work.
Cushdaddy
Since I have to cut all the floor out of the MJ, and I have 2 sets of seats with the newer mounting style, can I just weld these brackets in and use the new style seats? Seems like the additional reinforcement on the 89 MJ is not really necessary. If so, I could tie the unibody rails together with some 11 gage, and call it good. The additional reinforcement was added to stabilize the unibody area to accommodate the bed frame. I have deleted a portion of mine as many others have but I have yet to come across one structural part of an MJ I would say can be deleted because it was “over built” lol. Cushdaddy
Working on the floor pans, and I have this leak coming from under the dash. Can someone tell me where it's coming from? Is there a traditional spot for this leak?
Pete M
is the foam material saturated? is it dripping down to that spot, or oozing up from the foam? literally anything and everything that could leak, has leaked for someone. the windshield is always a prime suspect. Cushdaddy
The foam is saturated, but I had fresh stuff dripping after a hard rain. I was thinking about pulling that foam pad out since I'm putting that sound deadener in it. Probably be easier to spot the leak with it out. Cushdaddy
I got donor seats from a 4 door xj, and donor seats from a 2 door xj, with different problems. Had to put the 2 door system in the 4 door seats. Also had to swap the brackets and seat frame on the one cause it was crunched in an accident. After some steam vac, should be good.
