Jesse J Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 I’m so excited for this thing. It sits on the wheels where it sat on the tires
Pete M Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 it's been like 16 years now, but I still remember a point while building my 88, getting it on rims, and wondering if I may have screwed up and it'd never get out of the garage once on rubbers. it fit just fine, but it was closer than anticipated.
Jesse J Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 Sixteen years ago I was born! I’m really close I’m getting so excited. It doesn’t want to start. Gonna clean the plugs after school that was the issue last time
Jesse J Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 can I get the rear shaft I have extended or do I need to get a full custom rear?
Pete M Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 it is not advise to have a shaft extended due to the challenge of re-balancing. but you can have your ends lopped off and welded on to a new tube. all depends on what you've got in your area for a driveshaft shop.
Jesse J Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 ok thanks I will call around! are there any good writeups on how to measure for a shaft?
Pete M Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 google online driveshaft places like denny's or adam's. they should have instructions.
Jesse J Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 ok thanks pete! front shocks showed up today but they are for a stock xj axle so they have that cross pin thingy but my truss has kinda a post can I like press out the cross pin?
Pete M Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I can't promise success with your particular axle, but that's how it's done on other swaps.
