eaglescout526
This is an MJ Custom Metric Ton. Denoted by the eight digit. 65 says it is a 7ft box 4wheel drive. P is 4 speed column. Surprised to an 87 with 86 trim level.

It means that your truck is an 87, but it has an 86 only (or thought to be an 86 only) trim level. It might be the only one like it.

It should, but being a 33 year old truck, it is entirely possible that it has been swapped for a D35 or something.

It has already been done, it is the 2nd post in this thread. Also, I would recommend that you do not bob the bed. I think you will come to regret it later, especially if you plan to use the truck as a truck.

I'm just thinking about it. I might only bob it 6" or 10" to give me a little better departure angle but still keep some usability.
89 MJ
OK, that's not that far then. I still wouldn't do it. If you wanted a shorter truck, I would post that truck for sale once you get the tail lights and turn signals working and try to find a short bed. There are quite a few people on here that would rather have a long bed over a short bed for usability.

I'm definitely not going to decide until I lift it and put new wheels on it to see how she wheels. I really like the long bed it's so, well, long. The paints really crappy and I'm not a fan of the color. it would also allow me to get on of those things that go over the windshield,(visor?) and color match it. and it needs a little body work. Pete M
just armor up the rear flank. heck, simply ditching the stock bumper for a good aftermarket will improve things considerably.

Pete M
plenty of guys have added protection that goes from the bumper towards the tire as sort of a continuation of the rocker guards. pretty sure there's a company that makes them. Dirtbound maybe?
Jesse J
I think I'm gonna make them rockers, roll bar, bumpers, and what not
