NwiComanche
So I recently purchased a 1989 inline 4 and I was wondering if anyone has put a turbo setup on one just to make a little more power not to race with

SouthernComanche
I supercharged my 89, I also converted from TBI to MPFI. How hard is it to convert to mpfi? Wanna do this but have no clue where to start. What all is needed?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mnkyboy
You need the engine and dash harnesses from an MPFI MJ/XJ, the ECM, gauge cluster, fuel pump/sending unit, fuel lines, flywheel, a complete MPFI engine and pretty much everything that plugs into it, and a few other things. It's much easier to put in a complete MPFI 2.5l, but you could strip your TBI 2.5l down and redress it as an MPFI. It's a pretty big project and rarely done, which is why you don't see much information on the swap.
eaglescout526
I would do an MPFI set up on another 2.5L but finding a 2.5L of that config is not an easy feat itself.

Yeah but I have to find one that is rusted and no one wants. That’s the problem I run into with living in the rust free states.

mnkyboy
I just keep an eye out for people doing swaps, many of them just want the 4banger stuff out of their garage.
