Spoke to him already, luckily he has his old alternator and he’s going to swap pulleys It's off an 04 WJ. Holes need to be drilled and tapped. Thanks for the help Wow! never seen a combo pulley like that before either, V and serpentine. Rare bird that one is. Don't lose it.

johnj92131
One of the problems with working on old cars: We never really know what "improvements" have been made by previous owners/mechanics along the years. To quote from "Forest Gump": Life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. Or something like that.

carnuck
My ‘87 2.5 has an idler pulley and remote PS reservoir. The pulley was mangled so I ended up modifying a 4.0L one to work. There was something solid in the return hose from the reservoir so there was no PS at first. I switched in a 4.0L one I had but couldn’t keep the reservoir hose pipe in and converted to the 4.0L style on the pump and had to Space the pump forward to align the pulleys. The idler was a holdover from 2.5/4.2 with V belts. It keeps the serpentine belt from hitting the thermostat housing.
