87Chief
My 88 renix motor needs a rebuild badly and I don't have funds for the machine shop right now and I found a 92 HO motor from a cherokee.. He has the harness and ecm. Could I just drop this in or should I swap my renix sensors and stuff to the HO motor and run it that way? Thanks for the advice. omega_rugal
In your case it`s easier to swap ererything in, engine, ecu, harness, dash...
MeanLemons
Ha no. It’s easier just to use everything renix.
Marine1Texas
All you need to do is put the ho motor in with all your renix stuff attached. Use you intake, dizzy, and sensors.

omega_rugal
Misleading? he says he has everything from the donor, he can either swap the whole thing as it is and call it a day, mixing Renix and Mopar stuff is not as straight forward... HOrnbrod
OP, have you heard the 92 HO motor run? Do you know How many miles are on it?

HOrnbrod
Unless the seller is a trusted friend or a local shop/yard with a good rep, w/o a solid guarantee I'd pass. But that just me. Guaranteed used Jeep 4.0's are not that difficult to find.
87Chief
Ok thanks for the info. I'll try car-part.com and try to find a good renix one.Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
A good HO engine would be fine too. I just don't want to see you go through a whole lot of work and $$ and get burned.

Kickin’Chicken
OP's sig says he has the 2.5 4 cylinder. If so, how would he be able to keep his renix system and convert to the new block?

87Chief
I have ecu and wiring from donor 88 4.0.. I just figured it would be easier to stay renix then do HO. I would only have to do underhood harness instead of interior with 2.5 to 4.0 swap correct? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

87Chief
oh it`s ANOTHER truck... ?I'm using the wiring and ecm from a renix 88 mj into my 2.5 mj. I don't get your comment... the 4.0 out of the 88 needs rebuilt but I don't have the funds right now to spend $1300 for that. So I was asking if I could use an HO in its place..Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
