I have an '88 Comanche Pioneer I've owned since new (2WD/long bed/4.0 liter/5-speed), and it's been a great truck all these years.  In fact, it's still my daily-driver!  I've done some searching on this site, but maybe I'm not too good at it, so I'm hoping somebody can tell me a manufacturer and part # for a speedometer cable for this truck (it doesn't have cruise control).  I looked on Rock Auto, and again maybe I didn't do it right, but all I found listed was one for an auto transmission version.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you do a search on eBay for Comanche speedometer cable a number of them show up.

No results for that part number,

On place says it was superseded by 04897728AA, 53009003, 53006183

I would try to look up Crown parts too this seems like the kind of part they would have.

Go to a junkyard and get one out of a Cherokee.  If you get the two piece cable with the speed sensor in the middle, it is a lot easier to install.....

"Just go to the junkyard and get one" is a less useful answer with every day that passes. It's gotten so bad where I live that it took me 3 months to find a grey 84-96 dashboard in good shape and even it isn't perfect. A couple of years ago, back when every junkyard had 5 XJs to pick from, finding one would've been a one-day affair. It's a shame really. I've seen one Renix XJ in a junkyard all summer.

Rockauto has Pioneer CA 3068. It very unhelpfully doesn't mention whether that's a 2wd or 4wd cable. I THINK it's 2wd based on a few other people asking the same thing but can't say for sure. Auto vs. manual should be interchangeable. The parts manual only differentiates between 4.0L vs 2.5L, cruise vs no cruise, and 2wd vs 4wd.

It uses the same drive setup and you can use an automatic or 4wd cable.  I think the ATP Y804 will work fine.  The Y914 will be super long but you can just loop it around and put a zip tie somewhere to support it if need be, I've ordered and used that cable and it has the correct ends at least.

That Pioneer CA3068 cable will probably be long enough too.  Looks too short for 4wd applications.  I'd order whichever and worst case phone them up and say it didn't fit, their customer service is ONLY good if you phone them.

I have a Mopar 04897729AA that I bought for my 88 2WD LWB BA10 w/o speed control. May be for an auto trans, not sure. If it would work for you, $25 shipped.

Edit - bought it from a Jeep parts house in Talladega that has a lot of old NOS parts. He said it would work for my truck. If you're interested, PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send you some photos.

Probably your best option right here.
