ComancheLee Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hello everyone just wanted to know if the stock Jeep wrangler wheels would fit of my 1989 MJ without any modifications or problems The link is the rims that I am talking about http://bonnieheights.com/jeep-wrangler-stock-wheels-and-tires Thx
ComancheKid45 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 No, those will not fit without adapters.
ComancheLee Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Could you please send me a link for the adapters I would need
Goose_XJ88 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 look for spidertrax 5x4.5 to 5x5 conversion
Hypoid Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 This is the set I put on my XJ: http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.com/Wheels/Adapters-Spacers/Rugged-Ridge/Wheel-Adaptor-Pair-Black-Rugged-Ridge-5-On-4.5-To-5-On-5-Bolt-Pattern-1.375-Inch-Thick-Jeep Like you, I had a set of take-offs. I couldn't sell them for a reasonable price, and eventually I needed tires. Since the JK wheels have deeper back spacing, the adapter spacing brings the tire out, but keeps the tread inside the flare.
ComancheLee Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Cool thanks man much appreciated
Hypoid Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I can't tell from your pictures, what size are those tires?
Crash Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I recommend Synergy adapters , but the other ones are good too. If you look in my thread I have the same wheels on my and Ï have them on my XJ as well
DirtyComanche Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I have the G2 adapters. They're cheap, but I don't see any issues with their quality. Just make sure you heed the warnings with adapters. Make sure everything is clean when it goes together, use the locktite, and torque check them within 100 miles, and check them every time the tires come off.
ComancheLee Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 That's how I want mines too look @dasbulliwagen, And I'm going to use red lock tight and impact the hell out of them @dirtyComanche
Hypoid Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 And I'm going to use red lock tight and impact the hell out of them :thwak: NO! Using a torque wrench keeps the fasteners within design loads, and keeps the clamping force even across all the studs. I followed the instructions, used blue thread locker and a torque wrench. I have had zero problems with anything coming loose over the past 18 months of use.
87Chief Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 That's how I want mines too look @dasbulliwagen, And I'm going to use red lock tight and impact the hell out of them @dirtyComanche Don't do that.
DirtyComanche Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Yeah, no impacting lug nuts on. Just use a torque wrench. Make sure the studs on there are in good shape and long enough too; I had to change out the ones on my rear D44 because they were a bit too short.
Crash Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Using an impact to snug them one is not a big deal. A torque stick @ the correct rating would be acceptable, but torque wrench should be used.
Pete M Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 yeah, if you overdo it, you could split the aluminum spacer. :(
