pitbull4x4 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I had a guy give me front coil springs with a 4 inch lift out of a TJ, So I'm wanting to know what size lift of rear springs do I need. Thanks
MeanLemons Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 If it's from a TJ then it ll be 5" of lift for ya
Crash Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 You guys are backwards TJ on XJ is -1". So 4" will net 3". ZJ is +1.
Eagle Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 You guys are backwards TJ on XJ is -1". So 4" will net 3". ZJ is +1. Yeah. TJ coils give LESS lift when used in XJs and MJs. I would have guess 2" rather than 3".
MeanLemons Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Ah my apologies. You are right, 1" less on a XJ/MJ
pitbull4x4 Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 So if I'm reading this correct I will have a 3" lift using the TJ front coils ?? If that's the case I need 3" springs for the rear ??
pitbull4x4 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 What's best the 3" add-a-leaf or get 3 1/2" rear springs and put rubber boots on coils?? I have 2" boots on the coils now to help with the rake
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Full leaf packs for sure. Don't screw with add-a-leafs, they're crap. And if you have the TJ coils, you don't need coil spacers if you run new springs in the back.
Crash Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 If you can get another MJ or S10 pack. You can make a decent bastard pack
pitbull4x4 Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 K. What rear spring would people say get ??? I'm not rich and will be a daily driver with some off-road
onlyinajeep726 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Hell Creek: http://comancheclub.com/topic/28748-3-suspension-lift-kits/?do=findComment&comment=294445 All the well known companies such as Rubicon Express, Old Man Emu, Rusty's, Zone, etc. only make full leaf packs for a 4.5" lift and add-a-leafs for a 3"...If money is restricted, definitely consider a bastard pack as mentioned above.
pitbull4x4 Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 I looked at Hell Creek, but at over $300 each is way out of my price range Am looking at the ones from Rustys
ComancheKid45 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 A 3" XJ AAL and a 1.5" Shackle should put you right where you want to be without vaporizing your bank account.
Eagle Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Am looking at the ones from Rustys Stop looking. Rusty's springs have a well-earned reputation for being junk. There's a reason Hell Creek's springs cost so much more than Rusty's.
HOrnbrod Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 ^^ This. I'd rather go with a 3" AAL bastard pack than anything from Rustys.
pitbull4x4 Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 Ok, I have heard Rustys are not good. So I have a donor comanche that the 4wd is coming out of. Rear Frame was to far gone to use the truck. SO what parts do I need from both trucks to make a 3"AAL basted pack. Pictures would be great to see

You will probably use the main and another leaf or 2 with your current leaf pack. You need a longer center pin, longer U bolts. And shocks. I just used 3/8 allen head bolts for center pin. May need to slightly drill out hole in spring perch.
mikekaz1 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 depending on the condition of your rear springs and how you want the look of the truck, but MJs had close to a 2" rake from the factory, so a 3" lift is only 1" over level. you could get away with just a shackle lift and not have to mess with the spring at all.
pitbull4x4 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 I put 2" pucks in the front already because of the rake. Just wanting to get it up in the air and put 33 inch tires it.
