ARareBreed
Just want to spread the word of Core Shifters of whom is selling a Hurst shifter setup for the AX15. It's advertised to reduce the throw by ~30%. I just got mine for $270. I know it's a bit much but it has awesome reviews, I cannot wait! I'll update the thread. yellaheep
I have one in my '91 Eliminator. Dunno how I'd lived without it. Amazing upgrade, worth the cabbage. Another thread on Hurst / Core shifters exists here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/43862-core-short-throw-shifter/

Minuit
If members of the notoriously cheap-@$$ ComancheClub are praising a $300 shifter, it must be good.
Jackrabbit41
Are they easy to install? Do you have to pull the tranny?
yellaheep
Are they easy to install? Do you have to pull the tranny? You do not. Remove the center console if equipped, then the inner shift boot. Top loader design, 4 bolts holding the shifter base retainer to remove, go to neutral, pull old shifter out, clean gasket surfaces, apply new gasket material, install new shifter, bolt it down , re-install boots and console. Done! If members of the notoriously cheap-@$$ ComancheClub are praising a $300 shifter, it must be good. Yep. One of the top 10 best MJ mods for certain. Maybe I should spend the money on a new tranny instead of this but whatever

Stacks
Why buy one when you can build/modify your shifter or a spare one in about an hour? I did that on my AX15 in my TJ. I used a 1" steel spacer between the trans and shifter and cut the ball off the stock shifter and added 1" to it's length. Easy welding job even for me who isn't even a novice welder yet. It's been running in my TJ for15 years now. You can change the ratio percentage by changing how much length you add and using a spacer of the same length. ;)
Megadan
In my case, because I didn't have a shifter to start with, and the time spent trying to find one (manual Jeeps are a rare find around here) and then modding it wasn't worth as much as being able to order one.
