ggcnash
What's wrong with that? I do most of my work conversations by text because as was explained to also be the case for Brandon, where I work cell service is patchy at best. Sometimes it takes three or four tries just to get a message sent, and I've had often had the incoming message icon flashing for five to ten minutes before the entire message came through. Also if he's texting you, it means you've got his personal cell number. Try getting that from another parts manufacturer... pretty personal customer service if you ask me. OK, bud if you think that is acceptable as customer service there is obviously a generational divide here! If you for one second think the conversation that was had is acceptable for a paying customer and only in text NO ONE WORKS 24/7 sorry I grew up when a man would talk to someone not hide behind words on a dam cellphone. I definitely do want to here that personal # crap he has a small business so do I my personal line is also my business line ! I'm not trying to come down on you gogo but this kinda stuff is exactly what's wrong with the world today!

HOrnbrod
I've never "texted" anyone in my life and never will because I'm lazy. And it's dumb. Texting requires more time and effort and I'm a slow typist and can barely see the keyboard. I do have a cell phone (the dumb kind) but never use it except when on the road. I use a digital camera to take photos and a desktop for the Internet. And my old fashioned landline telephone always works. I'm old and don't give a sheite.   :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

ggcnash
The sincerity in someone's voice can never be heard in text message. Plus, guys my initial thought was that since I was supporting his business in "prototype stages" I would contact him and go over what was wrong, tweak these things for future customers and build some awesome sliders and split shipping but before I could get any of this out of my mouth or keyboard, everyone got defensive. People need to understand I went with Brandon because he was a member of CC and having seen his original work on the forum I was excited about his rails unfortunately talent does not translate into good business ethics! gogmorgo
In defense of those getting defensive, what I witnessed was you coming on here and attacking his product and his business. Multiple posts in a row off the cuff don't make it look like anything other than an attack. Attacks are always met with a defense. Going back to why I posted in the first place, it has more to do with me seeing unreasonable demands from a customer. You ordered the product (and I'll admit it wasn't cheap, I would be frustrated if this happened to me too) and it wasn't what you expected when it showed up. It wasn't defective, it just wasn't the product you wanted, but it was what you ordered. Turns out the seller's return policy is that in that case the buyer pays return shipping... this is very common when buying things online, as otherwise you would get people clicking all willy-nilly and ordering a bunch of stuff, returning it, and you get stuck with paying for their mistake. As an aside, most places wouldn't permit returning an installed part unless it was determined to be defective, but you've been offered the opportunity anyhow. Is it the best for customer retention? Maybe not, but it's pretty standard for internet stores. It's difficult to say as well that defensive people prevented you from getting words out when you posted first without posting the entire story, or even the entirety of your end of it. Â My dealings with Brandon/Krusty have been positive. He was willing to work with me to figure out my unique international shipping needs for my hitch, and I couldn't be happier with it or the transaction. Â I can understand your issue with the slider fitment. It does look a little odd to be square with the axles and not the body, but for functional reasons I think I would prefer it to be square with the axles so the vehicle's outer dimensions are the same the whole way down the side, instead of increasing the risk of getting hung up because something's sticking out further in one place than another. Â Perhaps its a generational thing, but when talking to someone I don't know, I'd much rather do so by email (or I guess text message) than have to figure out what kind of a person they are just from their voice. I also prefer having the entire thing written down than to have to rely on my memory and hearing (which even over a landline isn't always great) and it gives me an opportunity to communicate the entire story before the other person has a chance to react to insignificant details. It also forces you to sit down and think through your response. Is it easy to communicate emotion or sincerity? Maybe not, but I'm the kind of guy who is always sincere, and expects the same of those with whom I communicate. But either way, this is between you and someone else, and as such this is the last I will post in this thread. I hope you find a solution that is acceptable to both parties. Â As far as inexpensive shipping goes, have you considered uship.com or a similar service? Might find someone already going that way with some extra space willing to move them cheap. ggcnash
First off gogo, I'm not even going to debate whether text messaging is an acceptable and only form of contact for a business!wow! You obviously haven't read the thread in its entirety. Also do you think I immediately got online and started bashing, no sir (I actually praise the build quality more than once!) this was after my conversation with vendor,as you can read in thread I'm all for paying shipping one way. Remember the vendor has my money bud, he can easily arrange return shipping (business account) for the same price(I think 96$) he shipped them here. When he receives the item checks for defects he can refund me minus return shipping! This is not uncommon especially on something this size. If you need more details I can PM you my phone number and you can give me a CALL! Thanks for the input.
87Warrior
ggcnash - Thank you for the review. I hope something gets settled where both you and krusty are relatively pleased. I have been in a similar situation before, buying a prototyped Jeep part that was expensive. In the end, it was a learning experience that I never wish to relive. Â The construction of the sliders look great, but the reasoning behind them following the axles versus the body doesn't make sense to me. Based on the pictures I've seen, if I bought them I'd need plan on modifying them so they at least look right on the truck. But as with most MJ accessories, they probably won't be available when I am ready to purchase so it's a mute point.
ggcnash
For you guys again the issues one of the most important is this the front post with the front tab no adjustment bottomed out and the frame post will still not reach frame! As you can see even if I was OK with the back mounting position the front is not even possible to mount correctly!!
ggcnash
Now for the rear to be square which is not even possible with the back adjustment screw being short so you can only get it within a 1/4" without getting new set screw
ggcnash
The more I look at these things the more I get outraged! Especially when people are defending this crap both legs must be cut off and extended front and rear thats not to be square that is just to make mounting possible (for front)! The simple fact that the vendor is putting any responsibility upon me for a clearly faulty product is insane!!! Â BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
ggcnash
The front post for me is the deal breaker if they built these things to be square with axle fine, but front still will be short unless I tighten to frame and bend pinch seam! bump that!!!
ggcnash
The vendor clearly stated in his reply that he shortened both post by 1/4" fro design, well guess what the front is 1/4" short, just because you shorten both posts you bring the rail in closer, that doesn't mean the pinch seams moves!! Clear in pics!!

64 Cheyenne
Bunch of BS, I'd be pissed too if what I purchased did not "follow the body line" there is no valid excuse for  this not happening... period. I've done a huge amount of architectural sheet metal, biggest ugly fubar  anybody could ever do in a design, is follow a line...then not....so ugly. How hard is it to follow a line? (insert  excuse here). Professional business correspondence is not done with text...period, especially when LARGE  amounts of $$$$ is involved. I NEVER send money to a private person without a PHONE CALL. In my  opinion I'd cut my losses, send the rails back, let Shelby pay shipping BECAUSE he "PUT HIS NAME ON  THE DESIGN" and call it good, lick your wounds and chalk up another to experience. krustyballer16
I have already taken care of this...I paid for shipping. He has no money in them at all. Â And Shelby didn't put his name on it. He came up with the design and I built them how I wanted them, which would have been this way with or without his design. How these clamps work these sliders will never follow the body line as close as he/everyone wants them to. So thats that. I strongly considered changing the design but then decided not to since there's "so many other vendors out there" Â Like them or don't. And if someone won't do business without a phone call, that's fine. I don't have a problem with talking on the phone though. Just depends on person and situation. Â Thanks, Brandon
ggcnash
Just to be clear, Brandon has said he is going to care of this and I appreciate that, although I am still waiting for refund,as he is still waiting for arrival of the rails which should be delivered today.
