My pop used to work with a guy that did this to regular bikes....would make a killing $100 for the engine kit and a flea market bike for $30-40 and sell it for $500....

Now those motorized bikes are a hot item here in miami.

Back in the late forties, early fifties one of the most popular selling bike kits was a Schwin bike, sold new for $49.95 with a Whizzer motor for an additional $149.95. I think I still have mine someplace. Have to make a point to go look.
