sth5591 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I'm wondering if anybody has adapted the HD offroad stiffeners to an MJ? I don't know how the "frame" rail is shaped compared to an xj, but thought maybe I could use these and just cut them off at the back of the cab? These are the ones I'm looking at: http://hdoffroadengineering.myshopify.com/products/xj-frame-stiffeners
jimoshel Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I would think you would want the stiffeners to run the length of the frame and not just half way. What good are they doing if they end at the cab?
Pete M Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 MJ frames are already way stiffer and stronger than XJ frames. MJs were designed to carry waaaay more weight.
Incommando Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 From what I have read they all need to be modified for an MJ
mnkyboy Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 The frames are only the same as far as the cab support under the door, beyond that the MJ frame starts growing taller and the XJ frame stays about the same. Basically the stiffeners will only fit for the first foot or so.
HOrnbrod Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Neither. Lower midsection than what those are used for.
yellaheep Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Yeah, the MJ unibody rails under the cab are quite different than those under an XJ. About the only place they're the same is from the front bumper mounts back to the lower control arm brackets. From there, they differ alot. Here's a Hornbrod lower midsection stiffener...........:D

Incommando Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Yep but then wouldn't Hornbrod be all dressed up with nowhere to go????
