Kickinmule
Dropping mine today, should've replaced the rollover rubber grommets when I put in the new tank, so gonna doit now, when I replaced the tank the old one looked like someone had cooked a brisket in it! JeepsOLot
It's alive!! Had some technical difficulties with the fuel pump (didn't tighten the hose clamp on the fuel pump itself, D'Oh!). The good thing that came out of these was we know that all of the sensors and engine electronics were tested and replaced when necessary. Next things needed are new tires, and new clutch slave. glundblad
Factory tube step bumper and fog lights? Very nice.
JeepsOLot
I know the fog lights are factory, but the tube bumper? I was considering getting rid of it because I didn't think it was factory. If it is, I'll restore it. How can you tell? Jerry
outlaw star
Trade ya a regular rear bumper w/2" receiver for that tube one! Lol.

If it is, I'll restore it. How can you tell? Jerry I am not sure how you can tell other than I know the mounts looked very similar to standard bumper that everyone has. I am not aware of any third party bumpers that looked like that. I would bet it is factory and I certainly wouldnt get rid of it even if it were aftermarket. I think Don (aka hornbrod) had one on his MJ at one time. He may be able to confirm.
HOrnbrod
I had one years ago, an aftermarket unit mfg. by Genuine Steel. Didn't look like the one on your rig. Yours might be genuine. Did you check the bracketry and hardware on yours against Fiatslug's (Mike) part diagram to be sure? I've never seen an MJ factory rear tube bumper in person. JeepsOLot
Well, someone posted in my thread about the bumper, and mine isn't like an OEM bumper, mine has the uneven tubes at the license plate bracket, the OEM bumper has even length tubes. My bumper has rust issues, was wondering if it was an OEM bumper, I would try and restore it. Jerry
JeepsOLot
Ok, got two major things accomplished this weekend. Got the engine running: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n16eYwrpEPw And got the internal clutch slave replaced and working. I just have to bolt a few more things in, bolt up the cross member, replace the rear u-joint, and bolt up the driveshaft, then, I can do a test drive! JeepsOLot
Well, I thought I had the clutch working. I put the driveshaft in, and the clutch won't release. It's either the clutch slave isn't bled enough ( I tried to do with just me), or the clutch disk is rusted to the flywheel. Hopefully, will know this afternoon. JeepsOLot
Well, the reason the 4.0 was running rough was Cyls. 2 and 4 were not firing. Replacing the spark plugs got all 6 firing, and a smoother running engine. Still want to replace the wires and injectors. Outlaw Star swapped out a distributor that he had with mine in troubleshooting it the other weekend, and the cap and rotor looked fairly new, so, I'm not going to mess with that. Waiting on Outlaw Star now to help my bleed the clutch and figure out what went wrong with my friend's '86 Comanche. Jerry
JeepsOLot
Yesterday was a success! Outlaw Star and I got the Eliminator moving under it's own power! The clutch system needed to be bled completely because of the crap that was used in the assembly of the slave. Now, onto making it able to stop. We took out the master brake cylinder, and it was fine. Started blowing out the lines and found a bunch of crap was blocking the lines. The driver side front soft line was completely blocked solid! Just going to replace it today, bleed the system, and she should be 100%! Jerry

JeepsOLot
Well, should have kept my mouth shut. When I was test driving, a few times, it bucked and lost power. I just thought it was caused by more crap letting loose into the gas from the Seafoam treatment. Well, I was disconnenting the battery cables to take the battery out to look at something, and I heard a pop and sizzle, and when the first terminal came off, I had a nice spark at the battery post. Thinking, ok, something's not right with these cables, I took both cables out. This is what I found: Image Not Found This was near the starter, where the negative cable splits off and goes to the block while the positive cable goes to the starter. Apparently, the insulation was so brittle, that it broke off where the two wires were together, shorting everything out intermittently. Yikes, the Eliminator could have gone up in a blaze of glory!!! That scared me!! Getting another set of cables this afternoon. Jerry
