husky410ohio Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 I got the tailgate latch handles today and took some pictures. The original plastic flange bearings from the old handle will fit the holes with two M7 screws to replace the rivets that I drilled out. I also drilled 1/4 inch and tapped the three holes that bolt the assembly to the tailgate and used 5/16-18 x 1/2" button head chrome plated screws. The price is US$32.00 plus shipping (I was charged sales tax and I am not profiting from the sales)
Strokermjcomanche Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Nice ,I'll take one . When can we meet so I can get some parts off the truck and pay you for those and the handle ? I can only meet on tues or wed.
shelbyluvv Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I'm still in for one but need a few weeks. Onyx just blew up on me so I need to get her sorted out first.
Zebvance Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Looks great did you happen to look into the panels I was talking about?
sinkrun Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Nice work if I didnt have A spare I would be in for sure. II am thinking you tried the USPS small flate rate box its to small look into flat rate padded mailing envelope there $5.40 to mail free from the post office. You may have to order them not all office`s stock them there free to ship also I use them all the time and the handle will fit. Just wrap in in some news paper stuff it in the envelope and done. The medium flat rate is way to high for something like this.
sinkrun Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 You may want to sell some on ebay also I bet they would sell well for you.
HOrnbrod Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 husky410ohio, could you post a pic directly from the backside like the below? The handle doesn't look quite wide enough in your pic above, but probably because it's taken at an angle.
husky410ohio Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 It is not as wide as original. I made the width straight on the sides. The original handle had a dogleg bend on the sides that would have been hard to make. The width fits the part that has the pivot mechanism.
Jeepman Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 That's a Game changer for me.. I have to re-think this... Thanks for the pics
