Late Model Fenders ... Early Model Flares?

Hi all, 'nother dumb question I haven't been able answer yet ...

 

... since I have the 2000 XJ front clip going onto the MJ soon ($100 for fenders header assembly and harness was to good to pass) ...

 

I did not get the flares though ... I was figuring to re use the stock 1988 front flares ... will they fit?

 

On another note ... good possibility I may end up with the whole XJ shortly.

I've never seen the old flares used with the new clip, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I do know the old bumper can be used - looks good too.  .

Should work, you will have to cut the though since the old flares are longer i the front. 

Use the old style brackets.

or napier v2 flares look good too

Have napiers on my XJ ... longer is not a problem ... I plan to keepnthe MJ 2wd amd roll on 31s with a 3.55 8.25 in the rear. Just the 00 update as I prefer that front end.

 

If I end up with the whole XJ ... and don't wind up divorced ... I may swap the interior as well at some point.

I've put the older style flares on the new fenders . The holes line up but you do have to cut the flares where it meets the bumper extension .

I would like to do this same thing. I have the fenders, and header just need to find time to do it. My plan is to keep old bumper also, I've always liked the new grill and header but just can't bring myself to like that big plastic looking bumper. Oh well to each his own

Nope not doing the new bumper either ... going with a front receiver I currrently have on the XJ and a more utilitarian bumper.

After a small crash i had to fix nose of my mj. I ended up to put in facelift nose and shortened bumber from 86 parisienne. I stil have to cut flares and fenders a bit to make it look decent...
