Comanchel0ver Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Hey everyone my name is tyler, I am new to the forums and am in the process of building up my 1990 jeep comanche 4x4. This is my second comanche and I'm building it as a daily driver that will get me through the harsh canadian winters and see some moderate 4x4ing as well as shuttling mountain bikes where ever i ride.
Comanchel0ver Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 This is the truck the day i picked it up got it dirty cheap because the front end was a little smashed up. 160 000 on the odometer, has the 2.5 4 banger and a 4 speed transmission. replaced the front end for free with parts i had on an older parts truck.
Comanchel0ver Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Took the old girl 4x4ing in stock form and was impressed with what i was able to go through. Although with open diffs and bald tires was inevitably stuck all the time.
Comanchel0ver Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Fixed all the giant rust holes and painted the truck with rocker guard last week. looks pretty sharp if i do say so myself. Next step 2-inch lift, custom bumpers and i ordered offset rims need to figure out what size tires to run.

TheDirtyJeep401 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 You should be able to fit 31'' tires without a lift. You just might have some rubbing on the LCA (Lower Control Arms) But that can be adjusted. By the way, nice MJ :thumbsup:
Comanchel0ver Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Got my coil spacers in today so you can imagine how my day went. One problem i ran into was the swaybar links sheared off because the nuts were very corroded. Now Should i look into getting a swaybar disconnect something like this: http://jksmfg.com/i-13306723-cherokee-xj-comanche-mj-1984-2001-quicker-disconnect-fits-2-3-5-lift.html or just go pick up some stock replacements? anyone had experience with swaybar disconnect with only a 2" lift in the front?
ComancheKid45 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I was able to run JKS Swaybar discos on my truck with only 2" of lift or so. Best thing is theyre adjustable so as you progress you can just reset them. Nice looking Truck ;)
Comanchel0ver Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 little before and after action, install would have gone alot smoother if i didnt make the mistake of taking out both lower control arm bolts had to do a little redneckery with some tie down straps to get the axle lined up.

I still have all the jeep badges I might put back on, and want to paint the jeep logo on the tailgate some flashy color.

Comanchel0ver Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Ya turns out 30's are really hard to find. They rub slightly on the back of the flare, did a little bit of trimming but ill have to trim more. Not a big deal, ill post picks when I get a chance.

THey rub at full lock. had to cut this little chunk of flare off both sides to clear when turning : Tires don't rub with the front sway bar connected in order to utilize the disconnect ill have to trim off a little more flare. the rear has about 1/2" of clearance at full flex :thumbsup:

My buddies 1/2 ton on 35s got stuck trying to pull me out after getting one tire into the deep snow . :MJ 1: . Had to get his tow truck to get us out. good day. Time for some custom bumpers haha
daking Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Dang, that bumper got bent. Did it pull the frame, bend the frame? I actually like that bumper design, but I've wondered about its strength. I was going to pickup a stronger bumper that hugs the body. But, I'm worried about that too. If the bumper is too strong, an impact may harm the frame.
Comanchel0ver Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Frame is fine luckily, the bumper was just old and rusty. not sure if i want to fabricate one similar to stock or do some sort of tubular bumper.
