jimoshel Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Took a trip down to Walsenburg to look at a couple horses a fella has for sale. Walked around barn and saw this ! 1986 MJ. 2.8, 5sp, 4wd. 100% rust free. 68K on the clock. Didn't talk to the owner but his brother said he tried to sell it a couple years ago and got no response on his ad so he parked it. Left my number.

jimoshel Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Got a phone call this afternoon. Was the guy owns the MJ. We talked. He's got a XJ with a bad tranny. Swapped him a 4WD BA10 straight across for his MJ. Got the neighbor to help me and we hooked up the tow dolly and loaded up the BA10, 5 gallons of gas and a battery and went after it. After getting the title I popped the hood, put in the battery and tried to start it. Turned over but no start. Checked spark, good spark. Poured 5 gal of gas into tank and tried again. Took two shots of ether before it fired. Ran good at idle and stumbled a little when gassing it. Got a bug up my @$$ to see about driving it home instead of towing. We took off. Fastest it would go was 30-35mph. That wasn't going to hack it on a interstate for 40 miles. Removed the air cleaner cover. The AC housing was crammed full of some critters nest. Cleaned as much out as i could, left the cover off and we took off again. Hit 75 per with an occasional bump to 80. Ran great. After getting it home started cleaning things up. The air tube from the front bulkhead to the air cleaner input was crammed full of critter nest. Couldn't suck air if it wanted to. Going to clean her up some more tomorrow but so far it looks like a good one.
Bornindesert Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Holy Sweet Justice! Tranny for a Title, the sweet smell of critter dust burning off the manifold :)
