Every 6 or 7 years my jeep goes a little crazy and needs some attention, and in my case the clutch and/or slave is malfunctioning. Anyone with any experience with the LuK heavy duty clutch replacement kit? I can get it for about $250, as opposed to purchasing the OEM for about $600. Any opinions? Seriously I would not go the heavy duty Luk route doing it over, but maily only because as a daily driver in Denver traffic, the stop & go is killer. So it really depends on how you use it and where you drive it.... Great quality parts though. I've got a heavy duty clutch in my 86, and in my bro's 88. no issues with the firewall now, but I did make a reinforcement plate to go on the inside of the firewall (so the pedal didn't drop down a bit by putting it on the engine bay side). took 10 minutes. It doesn't get used for long hauls often, and the clutch isn't terrible...IDK why people are saying they're hard to push or deal with. Sure, in a drive-thru it's a bit much, but i'm not a fatty and don't eat from fast food places. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
FrankTheDog Posted April 7, 2013 Share Posted April 7, 2013 I have 184k on a luk oem repset in my 98 XJ. I've used it for towing and I was without first gear for 60k. Clutch still works flawlessly. The original owner replaced the original with a centerforce. It was very stiff and didn't seem to work correctly. I replaced it with the luk at 214k and it's in there now at 395k.
