Your Other Build Threads

I enjoy looking through everyone's Comanche build threads as much as the next guy, but I'm sure many of you have other projects that you work on as well that may or may not be Jeep related. I'd love to see what else you guys waste spend your money on.

To start, here is a link to my '05 SRT-4 thread from back in the day. I was still relatively new to working on vehicles at the time, but it was a ton of fun and I regret getting rid of it. The thread starts out in the middle of my ownership after it was totaled.

I've got a few. I never did a build thread on my '72 Beetle, but I wasn't on any sites when I did that. Here's a small selection of the more memorable ones...

Many years in progress: '74 VW Dune Buggy

My brother's car: '87 VW Cabby VR6... he actually did most of the posting, but that's only because he got almost daily picture updates. I popped up here and there.

Fuel injection swap: '90 Jeep YJ

I think I get a bigger kick out of finding and retrieving old iron than I do restoring it. Found this at an abandoned saw mill North of Trinidad. Had to cross country 2 miles, no road, and sacrifice a dozen trees to get it out.

1942 Willys, 1/2 ton pick up. 100% complete. A week after getting it home had it running.

Paid $75 for this 1968 DeVille. Give you some idea of the shape it was in when I got it. Sorry. No pics. Take my word for it. It was sorry, sad shape. Rebuilt the 472 engine, TH400 tranny, U joints, steering, shocks etc., etc. The only things I did not replace or repair was the springs, they didn't need it, and differential altho I did remove the cover and inspected it.

This is only 2 out of a couple dozen. If I can find the pics and get them loaded i will submit them. And a couple airplanes.

Thats one cool Willys & the rims on that trailer are something i'v never seen before. What size would they be? Truck type rim on a spider hub that small or are they bigger than they look.

Not much of a build thread mostly just a photo album. But here is a rig we built at the shop last year.

The pics arent organized very well and its probably best to go to the end of the album and work forward.

I think those are Mobile Home wheels on Jim's trailer.

Something weird, like 14.5" tires, IIRC.

The Willys is awesome!

More pics please Jim.

What did you end up doing with it?

wow, we have someone that knows of such things as e30's. yea, she's my girl. actually, the reason i got the manche was to haul the boat and take to work a couple times a week. i was putting 500 miles a week on the bimmer just going to work and pulling the boat dosen't help with longevity of the car. i'll have to be honest though, i should have bought a ford ranger or something. now i'm hooked on this damn manche and my love is torn between 2 lovers. a 27 year old car and a 26 year old truck all the while the 2007 chrysler is driven by the wife and you know what? leter have it. these two quarter of a century old vehicles are made better, drive better, are more fun, easier to maintain, and turn more heads than 80% of all cars on the road today.

Nice E30.

I love big thumper 4-stroker bikes; BSAs, Triumphs, Ducatis, etc. Had a million of them. Here's my current, a custom German MZ with a 560cc Rotax dirt track engine.

True. when it was time to find a new DD, i chose a 15 year old BMW.  Except for gas mileage, nothing new beats what you get for the amount spent.
