jimoshel Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Steve, aram1500, needs a back panel from a MJ for a pattern so he can reproduce them. I have agreed to send him one. Just checked on shipping and the best I can find is UPS for $56. Isn't there anyone closer to Monroe Ga that can lend him one?

Though, it would be easier to just take measurements from a stock panel in good condition and send those over.
jimoshel Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 I thought about taking a piece of cardboard and making a template. He also wants the metal fittings to see if he can fabricate them.
Comanche County Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 He's by Atlanta, 250 miles from me. Mines in good shape, let me check shipping, I'm sure its less than that. Another option would be if someone who is smart with CAD can draw up some templates.
86customanche Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Another option would be if someone who is smart with CAD can draw up some templates. That would make most sense, if someone is good at that stuff. I was about 7 years ago when I had a class using CAD.
Dirteatr717 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm good with CAD, except my laptop went boom so I'm outta luck with that
Sugarfoot Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Try bus shipment via gray hound or ? terminal to terminal they are pretty good on long items. You may want to saran wrap to something ridged... fence picket/ saw off the end? Ceder it's lighter.
Butchershop Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm not too far away - maybe an hour plus. I'll send Steve a message and see if we can get together. Will keep all updated.

Alexia Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 This was the topic that reminded me I needed to remake one of these. I built it to better than factory material standards. It still needs to be covered though. I used thin plywood so that it is still flexible, but will hold up better to mounting accessories to it. http://comancheclub.com/topic/32740-alexias-1987-to-1997-comanche/page__st__160#entry376154
Pete M Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Jim, I just sent you an email concerning the shipping issue. Steve If you're patient, you're only a half-hour from my parents' place. but you'd have to wait for my next visit (might be a couple months). also, the georgia pull-a-parts (pullapart.com) usually have an MJ or 2 in them.

This was an after thought of possibly being able to offer these to the Comanche Club community. I still have to finish up about 10 Comanche Headliner panels, 2 sets of Grand Wagoneer Headliner panels, 1 - Mustang, 1- Camaro, 1-Ford F150 headliner panels and about 6 sets of Jeep YJ/FJ40 Landcruiser Door panels....it ain't like I don't have anything to do....and work 40-50 hours per week at my other job. Steve
