SW86
it finally happened. ive searched for one of these months and months. everytime i found one it was either beat down, over priced or bought before i had a chance. let me introduce my "new" grumman aluminum 17 footer canoe! anybody here into it? or even kayaking? I'm pumped to get going. ill probably take it out to work this week and hit up a few lakes just to get it out there for a shake down run
mpace6a
I love canoeing! Gotta patch a hole in mine, dunno a make, model, or even year, except that my dad took it down a local creek during a flash flood in the late '70s or early 80s! I'd love to get a kayak too, just cuz theyre fun and would fit better on the jeep!

HOrnbrod
Nice score! Best canoe ever made in my book. I had a 17' square-ender Grumman for over fifteen years, an old 1955 model, and it was built like a tank. I don't think there was a body of water in Virginia it didn't see while I lived up there. Could carry a huge load, very stable, and the square end was great for a small outboard or trolling motor. Used to jack deer, ducks, all kinds of stuff in the Dismal Swamp in eastern VA. Did a lot of fishing from it too. A freak wind storm came through one summer and knocked a tree on it and folded it up. Been looking for another good one ever since. Oh yeah, they were also used in the movie Deliverance as Remi was referring to.
KYMJ
Kayaking. I tried to buy a Grumman canoe at an auction 15 years ago or so, found out I was bidding against a friend, so I quit bidding.

SW86
thats pretty cool ^^^^ good to see so many of you guys into it as well. a few grumman owners too . ill have to post up pics as i go out in it more. i power washed it since it was under a tree and had water stains in it a little bit and man, it looks tons better. still need to clean the aluminum with a cleaner though. I'm about to head out for paddles, life jackets and seats with the backs here soon. ive got to say, so far its looking like thats the best 300 bucks i ever spent!
