Blue88Comanche
I swapped in the D-44 last weekend and i want a new Diff cover. What do you have for your D-44 and D30? I was thinking G2 covers for my MJ

cody4359
i bought the g2 for my 30, within 2 months the stupid sticker fell off. this is my vote, but id spring for the drain/counter sunk holes. or ARB http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/D30COV.html http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/D44COV.html
Incommando
Before you spend twice as much on a G2 go to where they get them (and then slap their sticker on it) and pay 50% less.... $64 http://www.solidaxle.com/productcart/pc ... Category=7 I have the Solid on the front D60 on the CJ7 but a Barnes off-road shaved 14 bolt cover on the rear axle.
Comanche County
Salty, but ARBs have magnetic plugs and recessed bolts (a must IMO) plus a dipstick to check levels, not that its critical to have one but a "nice to have".
cody4359
G2 has a drain, solid does not. paid $99 for mine at 4 wheel parts a few months ago. everybody has their own want/needs. for now, when i plan on adding a new diff cover it won't be aluminum, it will be a beefy steel unit
Exxon Valdez Jeep
Solids on my MJ, $55-$65 depending where you get them. The beefiest (IMHO)is the RuffStuff D30 cover, its 1/2" plate and you can get counter sunk holes and its around $100. But it was kind of a pain cuz the bolt holes didnt quite line up right, but in all fairness, that was 5 years ago and it might be fixed now. I'm running A RuffStuff D60 cover on the XJ and a Ballistic on the 14bolt on the XJ. I bought an ARB D44 cover as a gift for a friend and it was super blingin, but they don't make them for the 8.8 and I wanted matching covers front and rear on the MJ. The ARB cover is like $180 too  Those are a few of the diffcovers I have owned. :D
SW86
i went cheap on my front because to me its all you really need. i got the zone offroad diff guard. it has bashed some rocks and concrete hard and still is in good condition. minus a few deep scars :D when i buy one for the rear i think ill go all out. the idea of having a drain plug has always been a good one. then again i run lube lockers so popping the cover isnt really an issue

I am not sure you get that with a diff. guard?
jeepcoma
I went the RSS route and got the countersunk holes but skipped the drain plug. It was a bit of a pain to install because the bolt holes weren't all 100% perfect, and that sucker is heavy to hold up with one hand and try to start some bolts to hold it. Unless you have a helper, you'll smear the RTV gasket maker all over, and it'll leak. Then, it's really really hard to get the cover off. If you're going to spring for a fancy cover, don't cheap out on the gasket, get a LubeLocker. I skipped the drain plug option but if you need frequent maintenance, it's probably worth it. Don't forget the RSS coupon code "FACEBOOK" for 10% off (if it still works).
HOrnbrod
PML cast aluminum, $25 at a yard sale. Keeps the diff cooler and has a drain - all I need. :D Image Not Found
Motion Offroad
The drain is an option on the G2.http://www.g2axle.com/differential-cove ... overs.aspx Spyntec makes both covers from what I have read, anyway. I have not actually called or anything to confirm that. Drain plugs are standard on all G2 covers now. At least the last shipment of over 150 G2 covers we received from them all have them... boardmanMJ
Read while ago in a magazine that they actually shot some diff covers with some guns and the SOLID covers were the only ones to withstand a 357 magnum. I'll see if I can find the article. As for me, I run SOLID on all my rigs. They are beefy cover that line up perfectly and can hold some extra fluid to keep the gears cool. Plus I'm pretty good friends with the guys that own SOLID axle industries Josh
