lexluthier72
Hey All, So my mechanic buddy thought my steering wheel pad (the part that surrounds the horn) was clipped on, so he pulled it off with brute strength....grr. The horn seems to be functioning ok at the moment, but the pad is flopping around on the steering wheel. I need one asap. Post here if you have one, price shipped to 55407. Thanks!!!! See photo for type. Color is Black. -E. p.s.- Normally I would have posted in the wanted section, but I need it sooner than later!
AMCJeepMJ
I was going to say something witty about your mechanic buddy and him rethinking being a mechanic, but I will refrain. If you want to swing by and pick it up, I have a complete steering wheel like the one pictured that you can have at no cost. Let me know when you want to come by so I can dig it out of the garden shed.
lexluthier72
Oceanic....I'm in Minneapolis MN! Any chance You can ship it and I pay you for shipping? -Erin p.s.- Yes, I have re-thought using him again. :hmm: Edit: Any chance you can take a photo of it...mine was in pretty nice shape.... MJRemi
So how does that style of horn hub detach if not with clips, like the round ones?
lexluthier72
I need the "surround" part....There are 2 screws on the back of the steering wheel that hold the "wings" on......those are completely broken on mine. I assume there are a couple more buttons under the horn button..... -Erin
lexluthier72
bump, bump....does anyone have one? Id like to know that I have a back up in case Oceanic does not want to ship.... -Erin

lexluthier72
Needless to say, I was not happy about it...as I watched him do it. :fs1:
xjrev10
Why is this such a rush? Not like you cannot drive the truck with the steering wheel pulled apart...
fiatslug87
Why is this such a rush? Not like you cannot drive the truck with the steering wheel pulled apart... Some of us like our vehicles complete and intact.
lexluthier72
Gee thanks guys...all this banter is helpful in finding what I'm looking for. Hard to drive with this thing flopping around. (I do live in the city, and it is a DD) I thought in a group dedicated to Comanches, maybe a few people might have an extra (that I could buy) Maybe I need to go to ebay? There is only one MJ in the boneyard (hour and a half away) and its already been stripped clean. Please only post if you have what I need. -E. EDIT: Mechanic FIRED! What a knucklehead! :fs1:

Jeep Driver
I'm going aftermarket when I get a few extra bucks. The original is a gummy-@$$ POS anyway.
lexluthier72
Mine was in great shape till my A**hole buddy tore it off the steering wheel. Needless to say, he is forever banned from working on my truck. -E. Edit: Funds are usually tight here, so I had no choice but to find orig replacement. I do however have my eye on the "round button" type wheel....
lexluthier72
On this same subject...anyone know offhand if the "rubber" part of the pad is seperable from the plastic mounting? (my pad is in good shape, just busted ALL of the mounting holes off the plastic "backer"......
sinkrun
Keep in mind that Cherokee parts are the same from the doors forward when checking junk yards.
lexluthier72
Yep. Never seen this type of wheel on a cherokee, but never thought to look that hard. Are they the same in those years? Also, the JYs here are slim on late model Cherokees....later 90's stuff only....(which I believe have the "round" horn button)
