jimoshel Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 While reading the post from Boosst, in the tech section on beds, it occurred to me that I have a '89 MJ, a '91 S10 and a '86 Dakota sitting almost side by side with their beds off and lying on the ground. Thought about trying the S10 and Dakota bed on the MJ and see if it would be practical. Tried search to see if it had been tried before but no results. Anyone know if it's been tried already? Would there be any interest in the results if I tried? Would any one even care? Curious minds want to know. :wrench:
500 MJ Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I don't think I'd ever do it, but I would be interested in the results... Seeing as you have nothing better to do, this will only help keep you out of trouble :clapping:
carnuck Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I almost put an '88 Chev stepside box on mine. Lack of time and an intolerant landlord kept it from happening here.
500 MJ Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I remember someone had put a mid '90's Ranger Stepside bed on a MJ and posted pics of it here somewhere. Didn't look too bad...IMHO
jimoshel Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Don't have any Ford Rangers. Do have a Chevy Luv and a Mazda. We'll see. This could get interesting. Anybody want to drop by and help?
500 MJ Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Do have a Chevy Luv My first truck, Dad and I paid $75 for a '78 in 1999. Was a California truck, restored it and drove it for two years in H.S. Lots of memories... The aftermarket did make stepside beds for them too. Pretty sure they were all fiberglass. Check this one out... http://www.luvtruck.com/Gallery/BrentMarshs78ReedCityMichi/index.html
Fezzik Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Is it me or does that wheel well look a little to far forward
jimoshel Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 [quote Is it me or does that wheel well look a little to far forward I'm thinking that. Also think the bumper needs some attention. Otherwise looks good.
HOrnbrod Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Nope, the axle is too far back. That could be fixed. It looks okay, but if the bed on an MJ is to be a stepside, the dually conversion looks better IMHO.
