Today's the first actually warm day here in a month. May get to 90 if I keep my fingers uncrossed. Low humidity helps too.

 

I see 45 of the lower 48 are hitting 100 degrees again today. Great summer so far here!... haven't hit 100 yet all summer. :chillin:

 

Which leads me to ask: how do you 100+ degree folks cope with the heat to get any wrenching done?

oh you mean the 100+ degree and humid we've had while working 60 hours a week in a shop wrenching?

 

lots of water, and finding good reasons to go in the office that has a/c, or on test drives in cars with working a/c...

Today is the tenth day straight here in Wichita its been over 100. the last 5 days have been 105 or higher. Its the 24th today and its only been below 100 for 6 days this month. It's forecasted over 100 from now until the end of September. This is getting stupid.

 

I don't have a garage so it's too hot to wrench. Even if I get it in the shade, I can't stop wiping sweat long enough to do anything productive.

 

I leave for a few months here soon, so this makes for a pretty unproductive summer.

It's a b*tch when you lay a tool down to wipe the sweat out of your eyes and when you go to pick it up again it's to hot to hold.

Rattlesnake crossed the yard this morning. He was carrying two canteens on a pistol belt.

Saw a coyote chasing a rabbit. They were both walking.

Chickens are laying hard boiled eggs.

Stuck a cigar in my mouth. It was already lit.

Had a BBQ, didn't light the grill. Just left the meat in the sun for 5 minutes.

Turned the hose on to irrigate. Nothing but steam came out.

Supposed to be hot tomorrow.

I have been working on the Jeep at night (8PM to 2AM). Makes it a bit more challenging but with a few lights everything is good. On weekends I get up before the sun and work till its miserable then nap or search forums.

 

I do work outside, everyday. Been consuming at least 250ounces of water a day.

This is my kinda weather. 100+ degree temps and 100% humidity do not bother me in the slightest - just have to make sure that my half gallon jug of water is always full. As long as I'm moving around and doing something I expect to be dripping in sweat constantly. It's when I'm sitting at a desk or lying on the beach doing nothing where I start to get irritable. I hate being hot (or cold for that matter) in places that I shouldn't be hot (or cold)...like in an office building. If I'm outside and it's blazing hot, I dress for the occasion. Same goes for when it's below freezing :D

i also work constantly outdoors, so I'm pretty used to it. sweating bullets non-stop is just part of it down here. drink plenty of water and make sure to take breaks. it does suck but hey its where i live 8)

 

at least I'm not in the midwest where droughts, wildfires and hotter than here temps. we just have the humidity hardcore

Middle of FL. Was about 105 today with about 90% humidity, all. day. long.

 

 

Usually, I'm the last person out of all my friends to start complaning, and I've done my fair share of wrenching in the sun, but when it's this miserable, my Jeep takes a backseat for a while. In fact, I'm looking for excuses NOT to go outside and work on it, especially since I have a new cluster to install; a radio to completely rewire, and I'll be inside the non AC, pillbox compartment for a whole afternoon. Not to mention all the crawling under the truck on hot concrete to unhook wires from the transmission and the wrenching inside the engine compartment to swap sensors.

We're going on over two months of zero rain, we need it in a bad way. Ranchers are selling off livestock by the ton because they can't afford to feed them anymore. Its seriously bad down here. Last time we had a summer this hot was 1980.
