I just purchased a 1989 Comanche Sportruck, 2wd. It is 4.0 5sp, has 189000 mi. What enticed me on this truck was the fact it has almost no rust! There is a very tiny soft spot on one rocker. Floors are solid, bed is solid, corners solid. I live in the Kansas City area and it is unusual to find such a rust free truck around here. Clearcoat is toast, but otherwise it seems to be in great shape. vn 1j7ft26L9kL454163. I owned a 258 amc six in a 1971 Matador in from 1971-74. It feels good to be driving that amc based 6 again.

Yes, come to Springfield once in a while. Being a MO truck though, I have to replace the windshield first so it will pass inspection. THEN I need to get out and find out if it there are any other issues. Drove it 30 Miles home and all was sweet. It has 1 incorrect wheel. As many of those base wheels as they made and as many wheels that got swapped out for bigger wheels and tires, you would think you could find one for scrap price. So far no find. About 35 in the local yard, or 20 plus shipping on the net. Seems high for something that hardly wears out and people discarded. Otherwise, it needs inner fenders.

Hey, cool. I live in Overland Park. Did you pick that truck up around Swope Park? I swear I saw it in a back yard in that area a few months ago. (I plan the tree trimming for KCPL)

Looks like a great base jamminz.gif My truck lived its whole life in the Sedalia/Columbia area until I rescued it and brought it across the state line :brows: She was rusted out :ack:

I am in Smithville. The car still has KS plates, but I bought it from a guy in Independence who had a MO title but still had KS plates. That worries me a little, but the vin matches what is on the dash. THere is a nice, white long bed near me at Platte City and I think I saw one other one in town, but only once! Good to know their are some locals around

Yea, welcome to the club!

Used to live in Farley, so I know Smithville and Platte City well! You may know of it, but there is a yard on the east side of 435 a couple of miles north of I-70. It's at the East Truman Road exit, and google maps says it's name is "pick and pull". Last time I was there (couple of years ago) it cost a buck to get in. I live about half way between Columbia and Saint Louis now, and used to go there every time we visited my daughter until she moved to Indianapolis.

the Front Clip, the interior dash area of all Cherokees, and the front doors of a 4 door Cherokee, will swap to a Comanche. The mounting brackets for bucket seats of a Cherokee are different than a Comanche. I think there is a couple of threads on here showing how to make them fit. Front suspension the same, but Cherokee Rear differential has spring perches in a different spot. Engine and tranny the same. I think interior console is different also. So, pick what will fit!!! I even think windshields are slightly different. Hey fellow CC'rs, correct me here if I am wrong.

Hoping to score some simple stuff: underhood insulation, plastic inner fenders, and one 9 slot wheel. I need that mini console that goes around the manual shifter, but I don't think cherokees came with bench seats so that will be different.

Very, very few did, and I believe that they were all autos.

They did, however, come with buckets and the mini console. Only ever seen one though.

Cherokee SE (base) models are the most likely to have the mini console. The mini console from the Cherokee is slightly larger than the one from the Comanche. The little storage area on the left hand side of the console is a perfect iPhone holder :D

I gotta give Doug the credit, but here is the website so that you can check inventory...... http://www.picknpull.com/check_inventory.aspx

I have a distant memory of another yard on the other side of 435, but I can't quite recall. I'll send another member a PM to see if he remembers.

There are a few more of us in the general area of KC plus a couple of transients that float in and out of town. :D

WOW! You can now check inventory! What an upgrade! Course, they are only there for a week or so, then crushed.
