    new Jeep Pickup

That's it. Glad I wasnt seeing things. I just got an email from Gladstone dodge that they will have an unveiling of the new Dodge Dart this weekend. So if this is the production model, I wonder if it is also a preview....

    new Jeep Pickup

I was at the corner of Englwood and North Oak in KC today and at Gladstone Dodge Jeep, elevated for all to see, is a black new jeep pickup (Wrangler based). I didn't know it was in production--at least not for sale. Jeep site doesnt mention it. I am sure of what I saw. KC club members if you go by there take a look and tell me I am not crazy.
  5. Bought the truck in Jan. As much as I liked it, I only drove it 200 mi in 6 mo. I am truthful when I said I liked to look at it almost more than I liked to drive it. I figured if I can't put more miles on it than that, someone needs it a lot worse than I do.
  6. I said a months ago I might donate my truck to the Joplin tornado relief effort. I did the deed. I hated to see it go. Today on the news there is a clip about that relief effort. Not only is my Comanche featured, it is draped with a banner advertising it. I will try to include the link. I will miss the truck (until I get another) I left comanche club cards in the truck so the vet who gets it might be your next new member. Why wouldn't they use it as their poster child....it is a good lookin truck http://www.kctv5.com/story/15081110/car ... do-victims

    1989 value

Thanks for the comments. In this case I questioned the outfit and they said if it was in good enough shape to pass MO inspection it would go to a person and not be auctioned. I will ponder

    1989 value

I bought my first comanche in Jan. 1989 4.0 5 spd Pukgut air, tilt, cd player, full gages, 189000 mi, everything works and there is no rust. I mean no rust, I even pulled the carpet where there was just a little surface rusting which I fixed. Those folks in Joplin are hurting and am thinking of donating it to the cause down there. I think I may have overpaid for it at 1500, considering I had to replace the windshield at 350 bucks. I cannot find a value guide going back that far. Considering all the cleaning repainting, and fixing of little items, I was thinking of declaring a value of about 2000 for it for IRS purposes, which would be what I have in it after 6 mo of ownership.. I would appreciate any comments if you guys think that is reasonable.....I posted pics when I joined the club.
  9. It is normal for renex engines to turn over 3-5 times before starting. Wheel bearing noise: I heard a weird noise coming out of mine yesterday. The best i can say is that it sounded like a horse trotting across a bridge (low speed, window down). I am certain mine is the center hubs that screw to the stock wheels. One is loose. You have to take the wheel off to fix. From the pix I don't think you have a seperate center that screws to the wheel, so it is something else.
  10. I was kidding about the leaf blower to a point. It isnt practical for daily use, unless you happen to use your truck for lawn and garden work, then that leaf blower would be right there and handy. The hot rod article had performance test with 1 blower, 2 blowers, and 2 blowers + nitrous oxide.
  11. Supercharge it with a leafblower. Don't laugh at this. If you don't believe me, check out the new issue of HotRod. They put two craftsman leaf blowers onto an intake...Seriously! They got lots of extra ponies...Of course would be noisy and only good until the leafblower ran out of gas! If you were doing any drag racing I guess it would work. I thought it pretty clever how they did it.
  12. I ordered this from the above mentioned ebay site, 24.35 with shipping included. It had the amc part no tag still on it. I thought it was a heck of a buy for a fan shroud, especially since there was no shipping cost. Thanks for putting me on to it. I think they said they had 5 left so if anybody else wants one, they should jump now.
  13. I do not have a clock in my truck. Was the digital clock to the right of the guages? If so I wonder if I could get constant power for my radio from wiring for the clock?
  14. That is probably what is going on with mine. I hooked the constant power on the radio to the other switch power I had on the truck. Radio works! I will probably run something right off that battery to get that constant power. Not sure what the rca plugs go to...probalby more wiring for that big amp. I only have one of the door speakers working now. When in plug or unplug the rca's it makes no difference. Getting there, slowly but surely
  15. The purple and red has power when switch is on. Red/black which is supposed to be dimmer has power with lights on. I guess that would be right...Still not finding anything with constant power
  16. Thanks to all who made suggestions. I have found a bundle of 14 wires taped together, one of which is the switched radio power. I assume this the radio bundle. Of these, all the rears have been cut. Do to the high amp, there was extra heavy speaker wires to the back (not hooked up). I cannot see any of the front speaker wires. This radio has red and white rca cables. I have those in the dash and they go to a place that I can't see. I assume these are the front speakers as those 4 wires are absent otherwise. I do not have rd/white (constant 12), or a blue/ red (illumination). Colors from 12v web site. i have a red/blk , a blk/yellow, a red that has a fuse in it, with a small box on the red radio line and a tag which appears to say + . I also have 2 blks and a white, and a purple/red. There is a blue fused wire out of the radio and this is hooked to black. I also have one pink wire from the harness. I cannot find wire to give me constant power or power when the lgiths are on. So excluding the rear speaker wires, the only ones I see that I am supposed to have are black, blk/rd (dimmer) and purple/wht (power) and what ever is hooked to the rca's
  17. Thanks, that gives me a starting place!
  18. My 89 I just bought had a pioneer cd with missing face plate when I got it. Found another radio exactly the same. Now that I have a face plate, I know I am not getting any power to the radio; THe pioneer has a plug in the back with a bunch of wires comeing out of it. They are all spliced to jeep wiring. The power wire from the radio (blue) is spliced with fuse to a black wire. I have power to the fuse box but no power to that black wire at the radio. The guy i bought from said the radio worked till he lost the face plate. Anybody versed in radio? Is the wire from fusebox to radio black? Is it a straight shot of wire from the fuse box?
  19. If you have any rubber vacuum hose and small copper tubing or wire that fits the inside diameter of the hose, it makes a swell scope for checking out all kinds of sounds. Make sure you put the metal end to the noise and the soft end to your ear and not the other way around. Actually, I have used a coat hanger for mechanical noises. Straighten it out. Keep the loop end resting on the ear lobe and the other end near the noise.
  20. Don't know if this applies or not. The smaller the engine, the more severely it seems to be effected by exhaust leaks at least ones close to the manifold. Worked on a 62 fairlane with 170 six for a friend. It could not be made to run smoothly or with any power. He dinked around with it for 6 mo. Mechanic friend suggested it was the manifold as we knew it had leaks. New manifold, ran like new.
  21. Looks like the top half of my fan shroud over the main fan is gone. Any body got, or know where to get. Napa and Rock don't show it.
  22. There was air in there! I also sprayed out the radiator, but did not see alot of stuff came out. Burped and took for a spin. Thermostat worked like it should, and no issues today. It is 60 degrees and not 74 so not an exact comparison. I did find one other thing that I think might need attention. The top part of my fan shroud is missing. At least I think it is missing as this is my first renex comanche and all is new to me. The top 1/4 of the shroud is not there. You can see the fan blades spinning and it looks like it should be there for protection if not for cooling. It was only on close inspection that I saw that it looks like it was broken off as the break is pretty clean. THanks all for the help!
  23. I think It was orielly's Thermal was what I was thinking anyway. It doesnt come on hard till 170 degrees and the other being mechanical is only governed by rpms....I think I got that right.
  24. Assuming it is the fan clutch. I see there are two different kinds listed: thermal or mechanical.....any opinions?
  25. Yes, I put in a new sending unit for the heat guage and didnt know about having to burp it. It wasnt sitting down hill so I am hoping that is it. I am more concerned about the extra fan not coming on. If their is air in the system does that keep the switch from working? And when all said and done, how much is supposed to be in the expansion tank when it is cold?
