fbtased2002
Hey guys I have been trying to come up with idea for a center console that will work with my set up. I got an 89 with a column shift and foot E-brake. I got some xj buckets ready to go in. Did any cherokees come with column shift and foot e-brake? Any ideas why might work? Geonovast
You're probably still better off with a full XJ console, and just fabbing some cupholders where the shifter would go. The missing e-brake handle really isn't that big of a deal, you can easily block off the slot if it's an issue.

You could also add the floor shift and floor e-brake too if you wanted. Would be a little more work to change out the steering column, and add the floor shifter cable mechanism, and brake, but I guess it would depend on how much work you would like to do. I don't think any cherokees came with column shift and foot brake, but I think maybe police versions might have, but I really don't know.... though good luck finding one of those. Geonovast
I once saw an 84 or 85 XJ that had a column shift and a bench seat, I would assume it had e-brake pedal. They did exist, but good luck finding one.
JeepcoMJ
NO cherokee had a foot ebrake pedal from factory. Likewise bench seats. An mj bench fits in an xj with custom brackets and losing the ebrake altogether, or making a custom assembly for it.

I have the same and fitted the XJ full console. Used a stainless soap dish to cover up the floor shifter plate. :D

Suuperman
In the MJ I had a couple years ago (my '91) I took out the bench seat and put in buckets. BUT I wanted to have a 3rd seat/seatbelt option since we have kids and I hated the tired old bench seat. I used the center front seat/armrest from a grand wagoneer. It fit perfectly between the buckets and made an great armrest when I was by myself or only had one passenger. Then it folded up to make a perfect kid's seat and the stock center seat belt stayed in place and worked perfectly. Then I just used some aftermarket cupholders on the trans hump (this was a column shift truck). I will probably do the same thing with my current MJ and I think I have enough room to put one in my CJ5 as well (our kids are all still young). carnuck
Don't have a pic of it (would look ugly now because it got wet and fell apart) I had a console built in my '84 J10 (with buckets) with a fold up armrest (slightly taller than a regular Grand Wagoneer one) In the upper part I built in a CD holder. Later I will remake it, but out of metal instead of particle board. PS: I call copyright on this idea!
