Dechion
It requires the OEM bumper, based on talking to them it mounts beind the original bumper face across the factory bumper mounts and hangs the reciever underneath. 2" class 3 reciever hitch, rater 3500 gross / 300 tongue weight or 5000 gross with 500 tongue weight with weight distribution kit they sell seperately. I am linking it here, both for other that are looking for a hitch for towing and for myself when I need to find the link after I save up the cash. They are going for $243.86 with free shipping. http://www.hitch-web.com/vhitch.asp?CLI ... #DRAW-TITE
Dechion
Oddly enough I had a nightmare last night that when I finally got the money scraped together and went back they were sold out... and weren't making any more. If anyone picks one of these up before me kindly post pics and measurements. That way if my nightmare comes true we will have data to work with when we have to start welding up our own.
jaekl
Your nightmare has happened to me on more than one occasion. Don't get complacent about finding a source for something not readily available locally. I've looked something up as a 'someday' item, been excited that I found it, created bookmarks for future reference, and even gone back later to see if it's still there, but when it can time to order it, it's a dead link and wasn't removed when the part was discontinued. Confirm it's still available and then quickly save the cash.
MjPioneer
I like the idea somebody is still selling them but I cannot agree on that price right now.
bigalpha
FWIW, I didn't find this particular hitch on the Draw Tite website, but I did find the front hitch that they sell. Edit: found the installation instructions. Lists the part number at 75021 but it doesn't show up in the Draw-Tite website. http://www.hitch-web.com/hwpdf.asp?tgs= ... %3C6615vhf
Matt1971
Mine is a bit rusted but was installed by the original owner. Think it may have been a factory tow package. Looks the same sans the rust. side view
fiatslug87
Mine is a bit rusted but was installed by the original owner. Think it may have been a factory tow package. Looks the same sans the rust. That looks like the one I have that's made by Valley Industries, it hangs a lot lower at the ends than the DrawTite 75021 which I have on another of my MJs. Here's the DrawTite one, notice the exhaust.
1tonMJ
It can't be too hard to make one of these, can it? You could probably make it even beefier.
terrawombat
It can't be too hard to make one of these, can it? You could probably make it even beefier. It's not. I was working on it over the summer but have gotten extremely distracted from that project. I need a hitch for my new MJ so it may rejuvenate my motivation to get this done.
