Dest Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 So there's an MJ that I've seen sitting for a while and today I stopped and snapped some pics. While doing this a person who was watching the house stopped by and I got the owners number. Before I go ahead and call them I'd like to post the pics and see if you guys could maybe give me an idea what year it is or anything else you notice. The guys I talked to said it was a 2wd but said it sounded like it ran good. It has a 5 spd with the big gas gauge, that was all I could tell from the interior. It says sporttruck limited on the outside. Sorry for the super reflective pic, I think it's kind of cool how I got my jeep in it though. http://img812.imageshack.us/i/img0011jd.jpg/ http://img690.imageshack.us/i/img0008dd.jpg/ http://img530.imageshack.us/i/img0009eq.jpg/ http://img185.imageshack.us/i/img0010xn.jpg/
btm24 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I thank 90+ because of thr stearing wheel but :dunno:
88pioneer Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Kind of hard to tell, i know a lot of 87's came with those mirrors. That black interior and lack of rust would be more than enough for me to buy it. Good luck

I'm hoping they'll let it go cheap for how long it's been sitting. When did they start using different mirrors?
freakjeep93 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 in 87 they phased out the 2.8 and in 91? they used the 4.0 HO
Dest Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Mirrors* :) I'd love for it to be a 91+ and have the 4.0 and ax-15.
fiatslug87 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Since the bench seat does not have head rests it's an '89 or earlier (if it's original).
mvusse Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Wasn't the black interior only available in 87?
Eagle Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I don't think SporTruck was a model for '87, and those alloy wheels were not available in '87, so it has to be '88 or newer. No headrests, so probably not a '90 or newer. I'll guess '88 or '89.
Bounty Hunter Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I guess '88 or '89 as well, and aren't most or all Sport Truck's 2wd? Looks like a 5spd, so rules out the common AX4 transmission.

Automan2164 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Its an '88-'89... They were the most prevalent years for the SporTruck, and I believe its one of them. The package was available 2, and 4WD, with any combo of drivetrain and mills. To the OP, go back and take a pic of the VIN on the lower corner of the driverside windshield. The 10th digit will be the year. Rob L.
Dest Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Ah, I didn't realize the vin was there or I would have.
dasbulliwagen Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Sportruck was available in 87, and 87 was last year for black interior. That steering wheel was base model wheel.... the interior is exactly like my 87 sportruck wheel and all, though I'm not sure about the wheels. I know those wheels were stock on my 86 Comanche X, so it is possible they were original, though Ive never heard of a sportruck limited.... maybe thats where the wheels come in?
1986Comanche Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I know those wheels were stock on my 86 Comanche X This style wheel did not come stock on any 1986 Comanche. The premium aluminum wheel for 1986 was the 10 spoke. All of the other wheels that were available in 1986 were steel. I hope this info helps.

Those same wheels were stock on my boss's 88 MJ Olympic edition, so maybe they were swapped onto my 86???? you never know, but I think we can agree, that black interior was not available after the 87 model year... unless it was swapped too. You never know what happens in a vehicles past.
Dest Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 It'll be interesting to see what it is when I finally get over to get the VIN lol. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, its interesting to guess about.

As far as the black interior, I have not personally seen a Comanche past 1987 with a black interior. I have a 1987 Comanche SporTruck 4x4 sitting here right now with a black interior.
