Good bang for the buck... You will never break these, and they are cheaper than most of the options out there.

Or buy the unwelded ones, and weld them yourself to save some coin (if you can).

Specifically, Rust-Oleum paint. Which, if properly applied to a dirty, rusty old steel differential cover will make it look all nice and shiny-like.

I'd probably paint a diff cover with a brush... But maybe that's just me.

But what's the point of an aftermarket diff cover if you're not offroading? A little cleaning and a fresh coat of paint will make it look nice. A hundred bucks versus ten bucks.

 

I'm not saying the kid shouldn't get a new diff cover. Just playing devil's advocate. What rear axle do you have?

around here we get new diff covers cuz theres rust holes in them. and i know I'm gunna get a stronger aftermarket one because theyre thicker and won't rust out as fast.

the point is, anyone who is asking about diff covers, obviously considered painting theres (or should have), and figured they'd like nicer better ones, so they asked the question.

eh. I don't like stock diff covers. i've had a ring gear on a d35 shoot through one, and I've smashed a d30 one (which are thick to begin with) on rocks...not when I was wheeling.

 

I can find a decent enough reason to have them. and when I sell the jeep, I can pop the stock ones back on, and keep the aftermarkets.

Exactly my point. Why spend the money on an aftermarket diff cover if its really not needed. A lot of us have little to no extra money to spend. Who knows, painting may not have crossed his mind, and it IS an option. Figured i'd throw a little sense of humor in, no need to get so hostile. ;) I am quite capable of reading, and know exactly what the OP is looking for. Easy there.

come on guys wow. In november i will be doing my 2x4-4x4 and lift so i will be looking at alot more offroading/tril riding thats y i was looking at some cheeper but tough diff covers. Thank you lostissues that answered my ?. And thats the type of paint i will use to paint the cover red when and if i get 1. It was fun reading this tho :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: oh and them solid covers look great and r the cheepest ive seen thanks

There is no such thing as a "cheeper but tough" diff cover. The bling bling Mr. Gasket chrome ones aren't inexpensive, but they are junk compared to an OEM cover. The heavy-duty, off-road capable covers you can bounce off rocks are NOT cheap, and if you find one that IS cheap ... you probably don't really want to buy it.

if yall woulda read what i said i said cheeper not cheep. Big diff. The solid covers are cheeper then alot of other ones i was finding were $90+ and that was not in my price range. I was looking for info on a good brand that would be tough but not look like :ack: eather at an ok price. Thanks again yall for the help

Solid and Rockcrusher are NOT the same company. Grant @ Rockcrusher recently won a federal lawsuit against Solid Axle Industries over the entire mess. Solid is not legally allowed to sell any diff-covers anymore. They marked them down to $65 to just piss Rockcrusher off. Try to add one to your shopping cart on their website; it won't work...

 

Solid also changed their name to Spyntec Industries to try to avoid the entire mess as well...

 

Rockcrusher is still producing and selling covers. You won't find anyone who's selling the Solid covers anymore, or anyone who has them in stock either...
