HOrnbrod
Went to my local Jeep yard last week, and there are about twelve MJs there at present. Looking around, there were several very nice tailgates and pickup beds (LWB & SWB). I know you guys up Nawth need these. Shipping for the beds of course is too expensve, but I can get the tailgates for $75/ea including all the hardware. Don't know what shipping would be at this time. Anyone need one? BTW, the yard is in Brownsboro, AL. And no, I don't have pics, but they are nice.

glundblad
You lucky dogs down south. Would you be interested in shipping a good condition OEM bumper? Shipping it may be a hassle. I have no idea.

500 MJ
Very cool of you to do this. I'm interested, but I'm going to think about it for a few days... I could use one/two if they are worth it... I think I know the answer, but maybe check and see if we could get them cheaper if we buy a good share of them? :dunno:
mfpdm
I've shipped several tailgates with Fedex and I think the most costly one was $40. Generally they were in the $25-$35 range. Just priced one coast to coast at $27. Only time the price starts creeping up is if it's going to an area out in the sticks.

HOrnbrod
Because of my wrecked off/on gimpy knees I have to pick and choose my yard runs. I went up last week to p/u a new front bumper and some other odds and ends for a front end mod I'm doing. This yard is prolly the best Jeep graveyard in the SE for 70s - late 90s Jeeps. Typical inventory includes XJs (always 75+ there), MJs (usually 10+), FSJs (many), XJ Waggys (nice front end clips I'm seriously thinking about), ZJs, WJs, even a few postal old/new style RHD Jeeps. I don't know what their shipping policies are at all. I have absolutely no affiliation with them, just have been dealing with them for years, and have a good rapport. Give Jason a call @ 800-633-2990, tell him your needs, get a price, and no matter what he says, tell him MJ Don from Arab referred you and said you would get a discount. Then he'll jack the price up. :D JOKE! He's a co-owner and an oldtime MJ guy. Seriously, good rust free stuff. And Pete, on your next run down south, let me know. I'll meet you there and you can see for yourself. You WILL be impressed.

jeepcoma
The handle on my gate broke so now I'm using vice grips to yank each side open. Only problem is, it's completely rusted inside the gate and the linkage mechanism to release the lock is nearly done in. It won't be long before it's completely rusted away and breaks to the point where I can't open it. My question is, how difficult is this to repair? I took a quick look at it yesterday and it doesn't seem obvious to me how to disassemble, other than cutting the gate apart to replace the mechanism then welding back together?? Is that why the gates are in such demand all the time? Externally my gate is in good shape, it's just the parts on the inside that are rusted out. Anyway, if the easiest (or only real) option is just to replace the gate, I think I'll take you up on your offer if it still stands.
500 MJ
So I've thought about this and I've come up with my verdict. Put me down for two of them and if its possible, try and ship them together? I'll trust you to grab some nice ones. I've got good guts in the ones I have so I'm more interested in getting straight gates that won't need much, if any, bodywork. Non-bent ones are always preferred. I think I'll have you send them to my work to keep the shipping costs down, PMed you the address. Let me know how you would like the payment to come, I can shoot you a check (for whatever amount it works out to be) ASAP. Thanks Again for doing this! HOrnbrod
I don't know when I'll have time to get up there. Basement has started leaking water (needs foundation work) and I need to paint the house. It's best at this point for all who need a tailgate to give Jason a call @ 800-633-2990 and see if he will ship. Sheite happens...............

Sheite happens............... Funny that you mention the basement leak...I was talking to a company rep from the Python Corporation on Friday (they specialize in cement coatings to stop leaks and preserve cement products). Thier truck was blocking the road and some civilan complained...they were coating the inside of a concrete lift station. I'll call Jason.
