JeepcoMJ Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I lucked out the other day...a family friend owns a scrap yard and got a '91 grand wagoneer in...360, auto, 4x4 with d44's/driver's drop axle. he gave me the axles and turbines off of it for getting a jaguar xj6 sold for him for much more than the scrap price he was gonna be getting... I don't know the difference in track width (are they wider, narrower, etc. than MJ/xj track width?) but they are 6 bolt. disc front drum rear, obviously leaf sprung so I'll have to build mounts to go with longarms. I also need to know what gears a '91 waggy equipped with factory tow package would have as well...tags are rusted off :-/ and I won't have time to mess with them for a few months... Thanks, Pat
89eliminator Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 don't know the gears, but to my knowledge they are just a tad wider.
JeepcoMJ Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 thanks. this also means I'll need new cragar soft 8's...8 of them :-/
Eagle Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I don't know the difference in track width (are they wider, narrower, etc. than MJ/xj track width?) but they are 5x4.5. disc front drum rear, obviously leaf sprung so I'll have to build mounts to go with longarms. They are WHAT? Grand Wagoneers had 6-bolt wheels, whatever the standard Chevy pattern was. Was it 6x5 or 6x5-1/2?

I'm not feeling great today and meant to type 6 bolt but was thinking about how I'll have to replace my rims with 6 bolt...stupid me lol.
Pete M Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 they'll be 6 on 5.5" and they will very likely have an insanely crappy gear ratio. The front matches up nicely with a rear 44 from a v6 95-ish Rodeo/Passport (which will have 4.10s or better and disk brakes).
bpm4x4 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I have one in the front of my comanche, the tnt kit is better than the rubicon kit (in case you wanted to know) I also put a 9" in the rear of my comanche it is out of a 79 Bronco. I had 35x15.5 sx swampers on it but am going to 36x12.5 tsl swampers to make it a little narrower, I was also having problems getting traction (not enough weight for the wide swampers to dig in) anyway any pics I have are on photobucket, search bpm4x4
Burls Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 tow package gears would be 3.31's. Non tow package gear ratio was 2.72  or some crazy @$$ number like that.
