It looks like there is a very good chance that we will be making a road trip the last week of May. It is going to come down to nearly a last minute decision, so I can not offer to make "definite" plans until after the 18th of May. Probably heading up on the 23rd / 24th , and returning on the 30th / 31st. We will be traveling in my 2002 Dodge Ram with nothing planned to be in the bed, so if you need anything moved that will be closely along our route, we'll be happy to help.

Y'all wanta meet in Charlotte for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

That's a decent possibility. We would likely be coming through that area between 2 & 4 PM on the 23rd. We typically drive to Beckley, WV and stop for the night.

ugh.

I don't like WV anymore....my ears still hurt (which amazes me since I scuba) from all the ups and downs in the mountains two weeks ago.

beckley wasn't too bad tho...

 you'll be about 2 hours south of me

As JT said, I think I'll make my own trip south.......if I get a new van.......soon :dunno:

Yep...not far. All of my family is still in the Oil City / Franklin area where I grew up. It's only about an hour to Erie from where they are.

  • 4 weeks later...

OK...it is confirmed. We will be making the trip up as planned on the 23rd & 24th...returning on hte 30th & 31st.

We will be stopping for the night in Beckley, WV on the way up, and stopping in Ridgeway, SC on the way back down.

If we can assist anyone that is right along our travel route, or can meet us there, we will be happy to do it

stoppin' off at the Quaker Steak and Lube for some wangs and brews?

Jeff

My sister and brother-in-law just made a trip down to GA from PA to pick up their son from college (Taccoa) for the summer. They made a comment about that place, but I have never heard of it. It doesn't appear that there is one within a reasonable distance of our travel route to check out though.

the one I'm thinking of is not too far off I79, right around the Butler area. We used to go to it occasionally......lemme see if I can't get an addy for ya.

Yup, been to that one. Easy right off the highway. Good eats for sure!

Looks like the one in Bloomsburg, PA is the closest to I-79. It is about due East of Pittsburgh just a couple miles off of I-79. We should be passing through that area near lunch time on Sunday ;)

Bloomsburg is nowhere near 79. It is on the eastern side of PA. Your best bet would be Cranberry, jsut north of Pittsburgh on 79, or Sharon PA, which is a little farther north on 79. Sharon is the original location. I would suggest a Pittsburgh cheesesteak from Primanti Brothers in Cranberry.

Yea...it appears that I got things mixed up. Thanks for the heads-up on that. I guess we will just have to wait on a QS&L visit until we make our next trip to the Clearwater area back here in Florida.

We are loaded up and ready to roll. Going to bed now, but we'll be leaving at about 7:00 a.m..

OH...and my truck is pretty well loaded now, as we have decided to do some camping and biking while we are up there, so the camp gear and bikes pretty well filled the truck up. ;)
