mvusse
Difficult to do on a unibody vehicle, since the roof is structural.
dunl
Difficult to do on a unibody vehicle, since the roof is structural. Definately, they would have had to reinforce the hell outta it. Anyone else find any contenders yet?

Anyone else find any contenders yet? Similar enough dimensions, that I bet it would work. Big pluses: They repro them It would still be a Jeep bed Old school Jeep tailgate would look awesome back there I'm thinking it will take a 4' wide sheet (pretty sure, but not 100% on this) Would compliment the boxy body General wheelwell shape should match the front No other body lines to worry about Negatives: Cost for repro Rear axle might not be wide enough (Willy's P/U rears are wider than their ft axles)
WahooSteeler
I absolutely do not see how ANYBODY likes that ranger bed on an MJ. I don't like it period, but it looks 1000% out of place with the squared and angular look of an MJ. Complete crap. I liked the idea of the older F150 stepside if you gotta go that route, I agree it's the most angular and therefore would match up the best. I suppose you could cut some out of the center and weld back together to get the width right. Just my nickels worth...........
highlandjeeper
How about building a thrift side bed from a J-truck??? That is exactly what I figured I would base a new bed design from. It would be very simple to build, and I think it would suit the truck nicely. The only thing is I may be selling the MJ. If I keep it, I will probably build it. jpnjim
Someday I'd like to build a bed like this, but with angular fenders. :D Cut the outer bedsides off an MJ bed, and you're 1/2 way there.
Pete M
Yup. That's part of my plan. Then I'll just add in some flat sheetmetal to create the look.

H3RESQ
I'm sorry, but that ford ranger bed is just awful on that MJ, just awful! :dunno: Need to get in touch with Spencer at jeepsticker.com and get a set of JEEP tailgate stickers for on that... Don't need to Taz..........There's something in place where the "other" badge was...... :rotf:You missed that picture
Eagle
Just another option - there is a picture somewhere on the forum a MJ with a Ford stepside bed on it. I searched but I can't find it - you may be able to do better. It looked good by the way. Yes, the topic is Right Here But I lost the pictures  So, I reloaded them Here I remember that. I liked it then, and I like it now. I think it would look even better with the fenders and grille updated to the "new" XJ style (1997+).

Yes, the topic is Right Here But I lost the pictures  So, I reloaded them Here Before everybody gets in a twist about keeping the look of the MJ style ... Feature "here " with Mazda B4000 flares with trapizoidal (sp) outer curve to match the MJ/XJ style .....Could be a good blend
