tazjeeper
So I am going to build a ext cab mj like the one in the pic. my plan is to take the 94 xj and fab the box and rear cab section on it. the rear doors will be cut down fiped from side to side to make them suicide doors and only 3/4 in leanth. It maybe red not blue as the 94 xj is red now, a good friend and airbrusher is going to do some ghost flames and paint the strips and name on the jeep. http://www.ezairfx.com or Heath Morrel on Facebook to see his work. he has done lots of workk for Redbull and others world wide. first off I need your help with a name for the build. so please help out and vote. BLHTAZ
OK...is there another definition of "Peyote" other than some type of spineless Cactus? :hmm: . That's what I got from Google anyway... Lophophora williamsii (pronounced /loʊˈfɒfərə wɪlˈjæmsiaɪ/, lō-fof′ŏ-ră will-yăm′sē-ī), better known by its common name Peyote, (from the Nahuatl word peyotl), is a small, spineless cactus[2]. It is native to southwestern Texas and through central Mexico. It is found primarily in the Chihuahuan desert and in the states of Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosi among scrub, especially where there is limestone. fiatslug87
An alkaloid drug, C11H17NO3 (mescaline), obtained from mescal buttons (either of two species of spineless, dome-shaped cactus, Lophophora williamsii or L. diffusa, of Texas and northern Mexico), which produces hallucinations. tazjeeper
whatever you name it, i just hope you finish the build. there has been a lot of folks saying that they are going to, but never do. i want to see one done! Oh it will be done. I have a build team and just about all the pices I wanted to have before I started. my bro. he does uplostery and is great with fab work  , the neighbour a welder  , the atlantic paint champian from ezairfx Heath and, me. the money and brains ( or crazy and has to finsh things because my dad never did) lol I was out in the afternoon yesterday measuring doors and the box so I can trim a back door in half and weld back togeather for the suicide back doors. the box so I can cut part of it out to retain as close as I can the long box wheel base. I did it in the afternoon because it was warmer. -22. lol :ack: The main part of the build is simply to get a rolling truck fabed, welded, painted and, back on the road. I have the 6" skyjacker lift. d44s 2 xjs and 2 mjs two build out of. I am thinking about 2 to 3 months depending if I am working or not. shuld start in feb doing some cuts and most of the planing so that when I roll the xj in it is a matter of cut weld prim and paint. I will ad gearing, lockers, bumpers and, all goodies after the truck is up and on the road. It may take time seeings I have a new baby girl due in june. the g/f said I don't care what you do but have it done before that. Say it with me "Project Peyote" you know you wanna, rolls off the tongue, is catchy..... I am feelllllllllllling it

brdhntr
just curious, wouldn't it be easier to just stretch a comanche? adding an extra 10-12", even 14, would be pretty easy. then just weld in the sides for the suicide doors. i think stretching it would keep it very stable, structurally sound, and be more cost effective. if you do want the suicide doors, i'd be careful about it. you need to serious add to the roof and windshield pillar as well as the body along the side where the doors will close. you should probably add strength to the sheet metal going along side the rear window. the reason trucks didn't come in extended cabs, then 3rd doors, then 4 with the suicide style, was because of support issues in the design. it took a long time for companies to figure out how to keep a truck structurally solid and safe when adding these features. issues have to be addressed about support as the frame flexes as well otherwise you won't always be able to open and close the doors. a regular 4 door is not a problem as you still have the pillar between the doors. messing with the suicide doors is a big safety issue, especially if you're going to use it off road as it sounds like you will. just doing it for a show truck doesn't take near as much. i hope you do it, it would be great! just keep safety and structural integrity at the top of your list. for the name, peyote for sure! I understand your thinking and find it funny that out of everyone ( this and 3 other fourms that Iam on and talk about this build) you are the only one that has said anything about safty.. I will start by saying thanks for thinking of me and others that may be in the truck. I will be offroading but just simple trails nothing to extream at all. no as far as fare as streatching out an mj compaired to the xj build I am thinking about comes down to this. both the mjs I have need lots of work. as the both run great they have ther down falls when it comes to floors and frame on one of them. now with that being sais. Myself and a enginer, welder, teacher of both ( friend of brother) brother and I have been throwing ideas back and forth about the best way to do this. For safty and price tag. so as far as streatching an Mj ((cut the frame/box and welding it all back togeather 2 times {doing this to retain wheel base as close as I can}, cut the mj cab, cutxj infront of rear doors, cut xj behind rear doors, put xj floor and rear doors in then weld all back togeather)) Or cut xj at rear of back doors, cut mj back of cab, cut box and frame 2 times{ weld back togeather to retain wheel base as close as I can} then weld all back togeather.. as you can see sound like the same amount of cutting but the differance is if I use the mj I have to cut the xj or the other mj twice to get the parts for the streatched part. useing the xj I only have to cut that once and weld the rear of the cab MJ back on. with the exception of the doors. now if I go with a suicide door it will be one on the drivers side. that has been decided because of structual advantages.. the door piller will have to be mounted to the rear door. I have to build suport for floor, roof and rear of rear door and front of front door. this is still not a yes but after we take it apart we are going to decide on the suicide doors. reason it may be too much work and time. ( this build has a time frame) Also support for the frame ( if i have suicide doors or not) the hole frame because it is being cut and welded back togeather is going to have support rails going from the front of the rear tires to the rear of the front tires. this is yet to be decide on the actual way we are going to do this but when done it will be ok. Thanks for you thoughts and anything you or anyone can add that can help pease post and when I start the build page please add to it as I will take anything and look at to see if it will work. that goes for anyone. more minds make better builds......
