They'll either be 10mm or 1/2" hex head. Jeff The ones I have encountered have all been 8mm on the front on the driveshaft. You need to use a 6 sided socket to remove them if they have never been removed before. The factory used some kind of loctite on it. What I ended up doing was cutting a 8mm socket down then tacking a grade 8 3/8 bolt and grinding it down so it is now a 1/4". insert that into socket, then use a ratcheting box wrench from there. aemsee Posted January 12, 2009 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Here is a little trick. Be sure to use a quality 6 point box wrench. Set the truck up so that the front shaft will turn. Before you disconnect the shaft at the diff. Put the wrench on a bolt and using a large screwdriver or small pry bar, insert it in to the shaft yoke and turn the shaft so that the wrench hits the floor or t-case. Once it is broken free you can then wrench it out normally. ratchet wrenches are great for stuff like this, AFTER the bolt is loose. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They'll either be 10mm or 1/2" hex head. Jeff They're 8mm, just like all the other DS bolts. 10mm is a lot smaller than 1/2. 1/2 is 12.7mm.
